My post was finally indexed after 2 weeks!

When I started wrting and publishing post, the longest time for Google to index my post is 1 week. However, after I learned that if you "Fetch" your post in Google search console, the indexing would be faster, from then on whenever I publish a post, I make sure to submit that URL to Google for fetching. As a result of this new knowledge, my posts are being indexed within 24 hours whether it is a product review or an informative article.

2 weeks ago my site for the very first time encountered "Blocked resources" when I checked it in Google search console. Until now the problem still not yet resolved. Still looking for the answers. I already deleted the banners and widgets I suspected are causing the problem but it seems not effective.

When I published my 2nd to the latest post, I was expecting that it would be indexed the next day. Days or even more than a week has passed but still no email from WA that my post is indexed. It was very strange to me considering my previous posts took only 24 hours to be indexed. I blamed this "Blocked resources" in Google search console.

Honestly speaking, I was stressed by this "Blocked resources" . It even stopped me to write my latest post that is why it was published 2 days delayed of my target posting day. Seeking any help from Sitesupport and the community trying to solve my site's issue. SiteSupport has been very kind in helping me. The community was also there to support.

Trying not to give up, I published my latest post even if "Blocked resources" issue is not yet resolved. 24 hours later, I received email from WA that my post was indexed by Google. I was a bit relieved that my site's issue is not the cause why my 2nd to the latest post is not yet indexed. I examined the post why is making it difficult for Google to index.

The examination result is as follows:

It is my first time to use several images for a product review (I usually use one).

It is my first time to use multiple images that I snipped from Amazon dot com(I usually do not do it)

It is my first time to add URL(affiliate links) in all of the images I snipped (I usually use the image with link provided by Amazon dot com)

It is my first time to include more than 2 affiliate links in my article.

Actions Done:

I suspected that affiliate links are causing the delayed indexing by Google.

I assumed that Google doesn't like post with so many affiliate links embedded.

What I did is I deleted some of the images with affiliate links and removed the text with affiliate links leaving only three.

I do not know if this is only a coincidence, but my post was finally indexed a day after implementing above actions. Have you experienced same indexing issues? What is the longest time it took Google to index your post even after "fetching"?

Thanks for the post I have learned something new

It's a learning curve.
Thanks for sharing. At least we learned from your experience despite that you do not know until now what is the real problem that causing the 'Blocked Resources'.
Thanks Dan.

:)Joe

That's really useful to know. Also, I'm glad I get emails from WA when stuff is indexed

Thank you Dan for sharing much appreciated

Thank you because you share with us your experience.

I haven't had this problem, so I will be bookmarking this for future reference.

Glad to see you got it resolved.

And someone said in the comments below that it is a great learning experience about Google, and how it works. That is in itself an interesting observation, and a BIG help to others.

Thank you Steve!
I'm glad I can help others by just sharing my experience.

Hi Dan,
Try this if you have not done so concerning 'blocked resources'. It is generated by robots.txt. Don't know much about them at this time. Anyway, go down to the second part of the article that talks about removal of the blocked resources.

Just google search 'google blocked resources'> click on the first article listed.

Let us know what you find out. Thanks.

Joe

Thanks Joe!
I will check it out.

I've experienced a similar scenario to yours. Most of my posts got indexed within a few days, sometimes within 24 hours, apart from one. I published that post a couple of months ago and I thought I just wait and see whether Google Fetch will help - well, it didn't.

Like you, I inserted more affiliate links than usual, have more images taken from Google Images, but no indication as to the reason (no 'Bocked Resources).

I have already deleted a couple of links, without any result, and might delete a couple of images as well. Another plan is to change the permalink as maybe it's a bit misleading and Google misinterprets the title extension.

I actually find this sort of 'troubleshooting' quite interesting as it gives you a better insight into how Google operates or 'thinks'. I'm sure one of the planned actions will sort the indexing problem.

Hi Sammy!
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Yes troubleshooting is quite interesting and rewarding once the issue is settled.
I am sure you can resolve your indexing issues also in no time.
I read an article about permalink that they should describe what the content of the post is. I usually use shorter permalink and I do not use my entire title.

Using shorter permalinks is actually a good idea, Dan. I'll try that with my next posts.

By the way, inspired by your post I actioned my plans right away, changed title and permalink as well as an image in the post, submitted it to Google Fetch, and guess what - it got indexed instantly! A very successful troubleshooting session!

Wow, Congrats Sammy!
You did it. I am glad I was able to inspire you.
I know what it feels like once you resolved the issue.

Thank you Dan. Yes, it feels great to have cracked the problem. Would be even better if it always worked that way...

That is a lesson to us all. I hope that all is well now.

Thanks Andrew for commenting.
Still resolving the "blocked resources".

Awesome Dan! Keep doing what you're doing.
