A Good Night’s Rest
Not sure about you, but I average anywhere from 6 to 8 hours of sleep per night. While sleep requirements vary slightly from person to person, most healthy adults need between 7 and 9 hours of sleep per night to function at their best. Children and teens need even more. No matter how many hours you get, sleep is vital to maintaining good health.
Day Sleep vs. Night Sleep. Many years ago, I worked nights. Some days, I could get enough sleep; most of the time, I could not. My family thought because I worked nights, I was an errand boy for them during the day. I learned that day sleep and night sleep are very different. From childhood to adulthood we sleep during the night and are up in the daytime. I have experience with both. If I had to choose, I would prefer night sleep over day sleep and here is why. It takes nearly two hours of day sleep to equal one hour of night sleep.
Good Rest Is Good Health. The proper amount of rest is important to the stability of life. Proper rest will help you endure life’s demands on a rigorous schedule. You may have the responsibility of work, school, and family commitments. Proper rest is vital to our survival. Without proper rest you could create some of the following health challenges:
0-4 hours can lead to obesity and diabetes
5-6 hours may make you a candidate for a stroke or heart attack
7-8 hours is ideal and will increase your chances of having a happy, productive life.
9-10 hours will be over the proper amount of rest. Too much sleep can be unhealthy and may be a sign of thyroid disease.
If you are looking for a great support, firmness and comfort, a memory foam mattress is a wonderful choice. I recently purchased my first memory foam mattress and it’s been a great experience. Previously, I slept on an innerspring mattress. The biggest difference I’ve noticed is the evenness of the mattress no matter how I lay (diagonally, etc.). It’s given me a great night’s rest.

I get the 6-7 hours a sleep a night most of the time. I did not know the importance for getting a good night sleep. Thank you for this valuable information.
I now seldom have the sleep of 6-7 hours a night. Although I get to bed early or late I couldn't have a complete rest of 4 hours undisturbed. There are a lot of factors why a sound sleept is ofte times illusive.
