The Past Three Months: A Candid Account

How did the first 3 months go?

The first month started with excitement and enthusiasm after discovering Wealthy Affiliate, thanks to Miren’s review I happened upon. The platform was unlike anything I had seen online, especially the extent of training and support. I plunged in with gusto after signing up for the free option. By the end of that week I had gone premium, committing myself to a year of hard work, with the goal to see results by the sixth month.

The first two months, therefore, went very well: I worked consistently hard and when I raised my head, my rank had shot up quite quickly (I did not understand the significance of this at first). The third month did not go so well as chores of having to make a living interfered and the lessons became a tad more involved. So, I slowed down and got stuck somewhere at lesson 3 of level 2: the task of adding content to my website.

What Accomplishments, Achievements and Business Related Activities Are You Proud Of

Firstly, I am very proud of the consistency and persistence with which I have worked in building this online business. When I am not working on the training, I am “conversing” with the community making comments to blogs or answering questions where I can. (Perhaps I love this too much such that it may hamper productivity? Something to think about). As indicated above, I completed Level 1 of the Certification Course and two lessons of Level 2, making certain to deepen my understanding as I proceeded.

Undertaking this business has made me aware of my love for interaction, especially as structured by Wealthy Affiliate. I believe it has not only enhanced my writing skills, but it has also taken me out of my shell, so to speak. You see, I cherish being alone in my quiet space and I do not function optimally in a crowd or large group. But I enjoy engagements in small groups or one-on-one where, I have been told, I flourish. Thanks to Wealthy Affiliate, it has become easier to put pen to paper, as it were, though I am still working hard on this.

Where Did You Waste Time?

As intimated above, I spend hours engaging with the community by responding to blogs. Could that be considered “wasting time” if done excessively? Perhaps. My obsession is to complete messages of the day that fall into my email, and there are many of them. One day I counted 65 and more were falling in as I responded. The number has not been a problem because I love doing it. In addition the responses are short enough to be able to respond to many of them in a short time.

I have now realized that it is not only this engagement that requires attention. Of these activities, perhaps the training takes priority and must be attended to daily, at least until it is completed. Other activities of importance, I have learned, are a visit to the chat room, a welcome to newbies, an answer to a question and, most certainly, a blog at least once a week.

What Tasks Did You Get Better With?

Certainly, I have become very good at responding to blog posts.

What Can you Do Better in The Next 3 Months?

The next three months will require focus on completing the Certification Course and consolidating the learning gained from it by putting it into practice in a live website. This will grant me the opportunity to become familiar with Site Comments that I read so much about. I read that Site Comments are crucial for ranking the website? That you can approve or disapprove them?

I also intend to spend some time (I learn 10 minutes a day is sufficient) in the Chat Room in order to become familiar with it. I looked in yesterday for the first time, I have to confess, and I could not make head or tail of what was happening. I did not understand the structure. As a result, I did not tally much too long there and I quickly headed back to familiar territory: reading and responding blog posts until my eyes could not stay open any longer.

I have registered for many of Jay’s webinars, but could only attend one (a memorable experience). The challenge is the 9-hour time difference between the US continental west coast and South Africa. As he sits at his desk to start at 5:00 p.m., it is 2:00 a.m. in the Republic of South Africa. I have realized this requires steely discipline to retire to bed early on a Friday night (whew!) to be able to wake up at 1:30 a.m. or so to be ready for the webinar. Of course, I could always catch them later, but it is so much better to attend them live! Those who have know what I mean.

The crowning moment in the next 3 months will be the completion of Affiliate Bootcamp. I had begun doing it in parallel with the Certification Course. But, after good counsel, I resolved to complete the Certification Course first.

So, the next 3 months will be about prioritisation, smart execution, discipline, consistency and persistence.

Thank you very much for stopping by. Please like or leave a comment below. We value those exceedingly.

Awesomeness!

Mojalefa.

This is a great read! I love your writing style and your use of headings, I will tell you I just learned something new because I'm horrible at figuring out headings to break up my content and you seemed to do it with ease...

Keep moving forward! What I do because I work FT right now is on breaks I will read and respond to blog posts and questions on my phone during the day, but as soon as I get home I'm in front of my laptop working and WA is only open to get to my website. I have to do it this way or yes! You can get lost in translation in this forum...
Good luck :)

Thanks very much. You are very kind. My heading are thanks to Kyle who guided the post.

Yes, I do get lost in this a lot, to the detriment of my niche, which is what will generate the returns in the end. I do appreciate the advice on how to deal with the many activities here, especially if there are other obligations.

I am ...

Forever Grateful

Thank you for writing your observations about your first 3 months. I was about 2 weeks in and got quite ill. It turns out that I have to have surgery and I'm on pain medication that saps my energy. I'll get through it though. After all, I'm here tonight, well, OK, it's 03.00 west coast time. I know that I can come back and get going again and thanks to you, I know I'm not the only one with challenges.

Thank you for taking the time to visit with me, Bill. I appreciate that greatly. I am sorry it has taken10 days to respond to you and other kind folds here. I have been pulled in all directions the past two weeks.

My ranking had once stood at 400+ but now gone up to 1806. I concentrated too much on my lessons that I neglected attending to commenting on blogs, unanswered questions and chats so this may be the cause for my ranking problem. So I am now addressing this problem. Right now I am revisiting the Entrepreneurial Certification Course lessons and almost completing Bootcamp lessons to enable me master everything they teach.

Way to go Qavavo! You have probably been more productive than you think. I think it is all about balance.

What a great 3 month's of learning you've had Mojalefa! Congratulations on all your achievements to date. I like how as a result of your self-reflection you are able to look towards the next three months with clear insight about what you need to focus on. Prioritisation is definitely first, after that the rest have a much better chance of succeeding. All the best you. :)

~Mark :)

Thanks, Mark.

Excellent plans, can pick up and identify with a number of the. I do enjoy the daily posts, but like you think that I spend to long on them, have started to time limit them. Regards the writing have always enjoyed it, as I have a few books to my name, but since joining WA have become far more spontaneous in my writings, which pleases me. Finally must set aside a dedicated time for my study.
So thank you my friend for giving a little kick.

Stuart

Glad I could instill some inspiration, Stuart. I love this place for just that. Need to look out for your books. I got lots of books (not written by me) that I hope to get to once the business is stabilized.

All the best
Mojalefa.

I need to set better goals for myself, thanks for this.
I too, find myself answering emails, reading everyone else's accomplishments, blogs, etc. that I have strayed from my lessons!
Yikes! It is fun to read everyone's suggestions, advice, etc. that I tend to get carried away! Okay..back to work.
Have a prosperous day!
Best, Mae

Thanks a million, Mae. This morning I had to start with that post, for if I had not, it would still be in my head! So, it is now a plan: start with the training or the blog first; then the reading of others’ blogs, etc.

Awesomeness!

Good shot Mojalefa.
Well, it does take a lot of concentration. Yes, it is easy to get lost in the forest looking for the trees.
Just stay focused on the lessons. Do the reviews and engage in the chat when you have time, but keep your eye on the ball.
Hang in there...you're gonna make it.
Joe

Thanks for the encouragement, Joe.

I am going to upgrade but just do not have the money and wife said in the next month so looking forward to doing this full time. Please Pray for me in this new Journey.I want to get this family out of Debt and help others do the same thing.

Your sentiments resonate with me. I know just what you mean. Going premium when you can, will be the best decision ever. You will have access to a world of resources, incomparable.

I wish you all the best.

Hello, Mojalefa, nice to meet you!

I would not worry too much about getting drawn into the community. This happened to me too when I first started, and I believe it happens to everyone to some extent. This community is so wonderful and refreshingly positive compared to everywhere else on the internet.

It sounds like you have your priorities straight though, and as long as you continue to make some forward progress on your website, you will be just fine.

Go at your own pace and all of the pieces will start to make sense.
I also applaud you for your determination to wake up at 2 am to watch the live webinars!

I have been here for 3 years and I live in the same time zone as Jay, and I still have not seen one live. Oops! I'm never very good at following through on appointments. I may have to make a resolution to try it soon though.. :)

You are a good writer, sir. It's been a privilege to read about your experiences so far.

Thank you, RushingBee. Those are very encouraging words and thanks very much for the complement. I will certainly push on to make a success of this.

All the best to you and I hope to interact more with you.

All the best and I am ...

Forever Grateful
Mojalefa.

Thanks for the heartwarming words of encouragement, Erin. They mean a great deal to me.
