The Art of Action with Wealthy Affiliate

For over 10 years, I have been bouncing around from idea to idea trying to make extra money. You name it! From selling on Craigslist, to posting on the Freelance sites, photography, and even driving for a cab service. Initially, I was very excited and motivated, but then the feeling would die out after a month or so.

I quit many things before I really even got started. I realize now after looking back, that I did not have enough knowledge or skills in these areas to take the right actions long enough to make money. I am sure many of us on WA know about the Universal Laws. Well, they are only useful if you can apply them. I had a positive mind set and I had goals, but I still wasn't taking the right action.

I have never seen a structure like WA where many life changing skills could be broken down into achievable steps. I have finally been able to take one of my life's passions and share it with the world. WA is helping people of all different backgrounds, education, etc. to achieve their dreams and help others along the way.

Taking action involves self discipline, focus, and drive. Here are some principles I've incorporated to start taking more action and procrastinate less when working on my site.

1. Eat the frog first: This is an idea I've heard many times in various project and time management courses. Start on your most intimidating project/article, etc. first. Then, everything after this will be a breeze. For me, this has been the research side of writing my articles.

2. Set specific time frames for giving feedback, comments, and reading WA Blogs. Bouncing back and forth between these tasks and working on your site will slow your progress down considerably! For example, when you are planning the time to give feedback, schedule the time in your planner from 8-9am, and proceed to schedule the rest of your tasks in this manner. Parkinson's Law states, "work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion."

3. Put your phone away, close out of other browsers, and shut your door if you need to avoid distractions. Personally, if I have my phone sitting right in front of me, I will unconsciously check it about every 5-10 minutes for a text or voice mail. Yes, this seems like OCD, but I know I'm not alone. There have been studies conducted that show people are now getting addicted to their electronics.

I have been with WA for one month now and I just want to say Thank You to all the wonderful people on here! This is a place where we can truly gain numerous valuable skills in a very short amount of time and have the support we need to accomplish our goals and dreams.

All the best~

Misty

Good tips. Taking the right actions to get you somewhere.

Absolutely - I agree. something I have changed recently is - only checking google analytics/webmaster once a week, (was doing several times a day, lol) affiliate accounts once a week and try and check email a couple of times a day, (working on that one, as it's always open)...avoid facebook at all costs. I have a list of articles to work through and set chunks for just writing and just research etc.... it's helped so much!

These are great suggestions as well! I can definitely see how checking analytics would be addicting. Thank you for sharing.

Good luck pushing forward :)

Thank you!
