Are you working for around $0.18 hour?

That’s the exact question my husband asked me last week.

I am still new at affiliate marketing but very determined. I keep saying that Rome wasn’t built un a day. Still people who don’t exactly know or understand what is affiliate marketing will slightly tilt their head, like a puppy who just chewed your favorite pair of shoes, and make a weird face when you tell them that you can make money online.

Some will tell you that all success stories are written by scammers who want your money and that you are wasting your time. Like most of you, I don’t believe in the get rich quickly without efforts otherwise, I wouldn’t be here.

Last week, I was excited over the fact that so far, I’ve made a whooping $11 online. Personally, I’m really proud of that. I’m building something slowly but surely. When sharing this good news with my hubby, he told me that he was really happy for me but continued to point out that if I divided $11 per the amount of hours I spent working on my site and marketing, it came out to around $0.18/hour. What a party pooper. That’s okay, he just doesn’t want me to waste my time on a wild goose chase. Over the past few years, I’ve looked at many ways to try to make money online, so has he, and hit a wall every time.

I’m sure that many of you have heard the same thing from a spouse, a family member or a friend. It’s normal that people who don’t understand what we do here at WA, can’t grasp that we may have high-speed Internet but creating a strong and profitable affiliate network is not a high-speed process.

Don’t let other people determine your path. If you’re having fun creating your site, coming up with ideas, writing rich content articles and sharing your findings in order to help other people, you’re already one step closer to reaching your goals.

I invite you to share in comments if you had similar experiences and what you did about it.

Keep it up!

Marie-Lou

Its tough because 99% of people do not undertand what we do. It is totally different. My own wife did not understand it when i first started, i made like $100 total my first 6-8 months. Now im bringing in a few thousand a month.

She’s not lauging nowll

Your wall to ward off naysayers is really solid. Let your results speak for you.

Just do what you are doing Marie-Lou. Your husband will be very pleased when the big money starts rolling in.

We all just keep plugging away and building our site authority and reputation.

Derek

Whoa! That's a profound question, Marie-Lou.

I think it's important to pause and do a self-evaluation of not only what we're doing, but that results from that activity.

Not too long ago, there were massive protests in new York for people demanding that the minimum wage be raised to $15. That equates to $.25 every minute. When you break it down, it really makes you think twice about the validity of what you'er doing.

You said it perfectly here:

"Don’t let other people determine your path. If you’re having fun creating your site, coming up with ideas, writing rich content articles and sharing your findings in order to help other people, you’re already one step closer to reaching your goals."

Joe and I have been here at WA for a little over a yr now. Neither one of us is very computer savvy so the learning process has taken a while. But we have made $17 over a 3 month period. Not much I know but it is a start and we will keep going.

Sometimes friends and family haven't been very supportive because they think we are throwing money away. We just smile and nod and thank them for their concern.

Keep the faith Heather, your hard work will pay off. Then your family and friends will come around wanting to share in your knowledge!

Stay true to your dreams.

Hi, Marie-Lou.
Luckily, we are both in this business together (we have had businesses together for 30 years) so we encourage each other and we both understand the rules of this game. It is going to take time.
Just nod and smile and one day you will be able to show him much more money.
It's no different to an offline brick and mortar business, right? It takes a while for the customers to know about you and recommend you and come back. Maybe explain it to him this way. One's own business never happens overnight.
Good luck!
Colette and Philip

great post Marie-Lou
