Today there are many ways to make money online. However, we are going to explore two categories. These categories are either selling products or offering services. For long term business concerns, product marketing is the way to go. In both cases, affiliate marketing is the best way to start.
We're going to explore 3 reasons that are great for a marketing model for an online business.

Whether it's the claim of emails and sales letters, there is a learning curve to Internet marketing. Depending on how fast you can get over that curve determines the success of your business. It makes sense that, for a long term business, you would like to spend everyday doing it. If you're not making money, you're certainly not having fun at it. The best part of affiliate marketing is that you don't have to deal with product creation or customer service.
2.) Determine Where Passion And Profit Meets
A big part of affiliate marketing is making money on what you are passionate about. Things and ideas you like can be turned into a viable online business. The trick is to actually find a market and products for those passions. Research and testing is a good starting point for would be marketers going into affiliate marketing. If you would try to do this on your own, there is developement and product testing. In my opinion, a real nightmare for someone who doesn't really know about it. Question, do you really want to take the fun out of this by trying to make it work? Being an affiliate with other product creators, takes the risk off the table for having an online business.
3.) Being Diverse Is The Key
Statistically, 75% of new business don't survive their first three years. As far as online businesses, the tracking is a little more difficult. Online businesses do have the advantage of having a low start up cost, however, without a solid plan or education the number can be higher. How to increase your chances? First, diversify your business. Look into multiple niches, don't just put your eggs into one basket. Secondly, education is needed to hold it all together. Find a Mentor that will show you the ropes and help you succeed.

Some great pointers there Mile. I have a plan to get the other two websites I started at WA a couple of years ago to make money for me in the future. I see the value in having a couple of different sites so when one isn't producing as much you have a backup plan. I am focusing on one this year and when I am earning an income off it this year, I will move on to focus on one of my old ones. Thank you for the reminder to diversify!

Yes, you make some really great points here. I have great a couple business plans and have a concept of that. We don't really put a lot of time into that with our affiliate marketing but it might not be a bad idea.
