A Word About Your Prospective Niche

A WORD ABOUT YOUR PROSPECTIVE NICHE.

You should keep it to your self until you have indexed your website and have submitted your sitemaps to Google and Bing. Just a word of caution here. You do not want to give other people ideas for a good Niche. You certainly wouldn’t go out on Facebook or Twitter with your business ideas. There are people in the world who can get a website up and running before you can even complete the training here at Wealthy Affiliate. I have seen novices and newbies on here at WA asking questions on live chat concerning what they think are good Niches to pursue. That is why I am bringing this up now to warn our new members of the potential problems it can cause. We have good honest members here at WA. I'm not being negative in any way. There are good postings on WA concerning how to pick a Niche. Select a good one and do your research and be thorough. Selecting your Niche is the most important step along with the keywords you use in developing your websites.

DON'T GIVE AWAY YOUR BUSINESS IDEAS!

To be protective, is just good business practice and one of the first things they teach you in business school in college is not to give away your ideas for a business. “Your Niche Is Your Business.” Protect it until you have started publishing your pages/posts. If you want to ask questions concerning your Niche, select three or four members here at WA who are ranked in the top 200, perhaps hold the Ambassador badge, and private message them with your question(s). This way you are asking someone who has been around a while and has some experience in internet marketing. Plus, you haven’t exposed your ideas to the general public.

I just wanted to get this out and hope that people will be more careful with their business ideas (Niche) in the future. “It’s better to be safe than sorry!” Trust me!

Hi Mick.
Long time no contact.
Nice to hear from you.

Nice.Thank you for the input. It is very valuable.
Kindest and best.
How are you doing during these absolutely stupid times?

Thank you. I'm doing fine.

Stay well.

We have some plagiarism problems in here, but not from our members. I feel like we are all so involved in our own problems that we won't really care what another's niche might be. Besides, even if someone used the same niche, as long as their content is original, it really doesn't matter. There are several people on here who have the same niche as I, and it doesn't bother me a bit...in fact, I find it helpful to compare notes with them sometimes.

Competition is always good. But if one has a Niche in a new field, it would be best to keep it close to the vest so to speak until it is time to publish. I wasn't worrying about plagiarism

Thank you for the post, just reminded me to make sure I put my post to be indexed by Google and Bing.

Cheers

Yes, and after indexing, submit your sitemaps to both.

Thanks Mick...i forgot to submit my site map for the last several posts... and I actually forgot how to do that. But do I need to submit the site map if my posts are indexing anyways without it?

Once a sitemap is submitted, you do not need to submit it again. Google will reference it when it comes to crawl your site. If you want to speed the indexing process up, you can use the URL Inspection feature in Google Search Console.

Thank you!!!

Just keeping your posts and pages up to day should be sufficient with respect to the sitemaps.

Thank you. Good information and reminders.

Your welcome.
