404 Error Pages - Free Plug in
If your like me and have been revising keywords and content lately, then you will want to get the Redirect 404 Error Page plug in. What this free plug does is redirect any 404 error pages that your readers may get when he or she lands on a webpage that no longer exists. Instead takes them to your Homepage or Custom page of their choosing. This avoids the dreaded 404 error page message on your website. I have not gotten a 404 error page since I started using the free plug in. I recommend using it along with the Broken Link Checker free plug in to help clean up your websites. I check daily for any broken links on my webpages. They are now pretty clean. Also, i'm not getting errors in bing webmaster tools or the google search console as well! Your site should be clean of errors. You need to check daily for any errors on your website!

I have been on a WordPress meeting a couple of days ago, and I mention the same question as here where it says plugins make a website slower, and I got told it depends on the written program of the plugin. Big Companies use lots of plugins and their site is still fast.

Did you try to source and eliminate your 404 errors yourself instead of having to resort to plugins?
Yes I did. If you have plugs you don't use, you should de-activate them. Yoast Premium provides redirects but not everyone can afford paying for the plug in.
