Done is better than perfect

I have been asked a lot lately how to get started writing, what to write about, who to target and things of that nature. I have watched others as they talk to me about their plans and wait for the plans to become actions.

I see a few of those I have talked to take the plans and turn them into what they wanted and then there is the majority of those I talk to and see left that I am addressing here now. It is those that I have already talked to and have had great conversations with that I want to see this and take a mental note of what I am about to tell them.

First off, congratulations on your first step of becoming a WA member and making the big move of becoming a self employed business owner! You have done what a lot of others are afraid to do and that is take a step out of your comfort zone to take on your new role as leader and web designer.

The next thing you should really grasp onto is the fact that you are NOT alone in your new challenge. This new venture is exciting and scary at times to those that are unfamiliar with how building a website is done. There are many resources available to you here from classes to listen to on demand where you can get certified once completed. You have a live chat forum 24/7 that has someone there from across the world all the time that you can ask questions to if you are looking for immediate answers.

You just have to put your plan into action. You signed up with WA because you felt there was potential here for you. No one forced you to join and no one took your CC numbers fraudulently to make you a member without your consent so we KNOW you want to succeed. I have talked to many of you and all that I have talked to have great plans.

For some reason or another, some of you are not starting to get your plans in motion. Whether it be that things are not all the way you want them to be or it is not as easy as you thought it would be the fact remains, you paid to remain a member because you had faith in yourself and WA's method of success.

I want to tell you about my start. I am a perfectionist. I HATE when things are not EXACTLY the way I want them to be. Because of that, I did not get started right away. I was stuck on my niche for a couple of weeks when I had the one passion for me right in front of my face. I was too much of a perfectionist to look at it though.

I wanted the perfect niche; the one that will make money day one so to speak. I searched and researched until I was so frustrated that I almost gave up. I had paid yearly on purpose so I could not back track and give up. I had committed myself to doing this so I had to do something. What was I to do? I learned and now I pass it on to you.

I learned that it is not being perfect to get guests to visit your website. It is not being the most flashy that gets your guests to your website. It isn't even being on the first page of Google although that is a very good place to be and is very beneficial. It takes work to get to the first page of Google unless you buy your way to it and now Google is starting to "punish" those that do I am hearing through the grapevine. What REALLY gets your plan into action is you. It is you getting done writing a blog for your website. It does not have to be perfect! It just has to be completed and posted for your guests to see. If there is nothing to see, then there is no reason to visit your site, at all.

Being done is better than perfect because it is a start of the plan you have already. It is the first hurdle on your journey that you will overcome. It will be easier than you think too. It will give you confidence to go on to another task or maybe just write another blog. Even that is enough at first. Just to get started is a step in the right direction.

So, instead of all those great ideas that I hear all the time lately going to waste because there is stress and anxiety building, put it to good use. Get it out of your head, and put your plan into action and watch your brilliance take its shape on its canvas called your website because beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We are always more critical of ourselves and our work than anyone else. Give yourself a break. Being done is better than being perfect.
