Keyword Rankings Are Climbing After Major Site Cleanup!
Just a quick update! After months of trial and error, I’ve finally started seeing my keywords rank on Google. Many are now showing up on page 1 and 2, and the average position has improved significantly (from 70+ to now around 53.9).
Here’s what I did:
✅ Switched from flightsimulatorandaccessories.com to flightsimessentials.com
✅ Updated my key posts using Hub keywords
✅ Deleted 60+ irrelevant or low-quality articles
✅ Rewrote AI content that felt generic
✅ Added my own insights to improve EEAT
I’m curious — what do you think of the domain change?
👉 Was switching to flightsimessentials.com a good move compared to flightsimulatorandaccessories.com?
I made the change because the old domain sounded too close to Microsoft’s brand and didn’t feel original. The new one feels more brandable and niche-focused — plus, most of my content is now indexed.
If you’re stuck, don’t give up — even a few strategic changes can make a huge difference. For me, switching domains, fixing old content, and applying WA’s newer SEO strategies really helped.
Would love your thoughts or feedback!

It shouldn't matter in these days although I think short and succinct is an improvement.
Some recommend 3 syllables or words maximum, and that's what you now have.

The new domain looks a lot better, shorter, and more memorable compared to the first domain :)
But how did you go about deleting the articles, won't it produce a bunch of 404 errors in your Google Search Console dashboard?
Thanks! Yeah, I think the new domain feels a lot cleaner and easier to remember too.
When I deleted the old posts, I did notice some 404s page not found popping up in Search Console, but that was expected. I figured it was worth it to clear out the stuff that wasn’t really helping the site. Most of those posts weren’t getting traffic anyway, and I wanted to focus on higher-quality content that actually fits the niche.
I also submitted a fresh sitemap after the cleanup, so Google could re-crawl everything. It seems to be working — a lot of the new posts are already showing up on the first couple pages of search results!
Looks like you did a lot of work to revamp your game plan and improve things on the new domain. The shorter domain will be easier to remember for readers who wish to follow you which is what matters the most. Glad to hear of your results, I have been updating articles that are on my site and seeing more search traffic as well but have around 100 articles left to update or archive.

Great news my friend... as for why this happens???
I have absolutely no idea!! Sites of mine have been skyrocketing recently in Google without doing anything... whilst others I have put a lot of time and effort into have plummeted....
Hopefully things will start to settle out again soon my friend! :-)
