Heidi, content is the absolutely best way to long term, targeted traffic. This is done through keywords and with a newer website I absolutely recommend tackling the low hanging fruit first (and it may be what you always tackle).

By this I mean, low competition keywords versus higher competition (higher traffic). As you build out your content and get rankings over time, this really adds up to massive amounts of traffic.
