Question about choosing a business name

Hi guys! I have been thinking about my business name lately.

I already own a small taxidermy company, and so my business bank accoutn reflects that. I am interested in making another business name to cover all my niches etc.

So more or less a... umbrella term to cover all my websites, niches etc. Does that make sense?

I am looking for advice on what other people use for their business names!

Thanks!

Hi, I have a few businesses that I run separately from my online stuff. I use my initials I.e DPH followed by something like 'group' 'consultants' 'associates'. The name is the generic and you can add any company under it. Hope this help...

I would suggest in just getting a general name, nothing specific. You can then switch what you actually do quite easily. Think brand. :) For example my company is called Sligo. Actually afterwards I found out this is a place in Ireland, didn't know it when I got it though. At the time it didn't mean anything and it works as an umbrella for everything I do. Marketing name can be more specific if you want, let the operations just work financially under one roof.

Hi Matt,

I hope this helps. Being a photographer, then later a computer builder/repair person, my CPA said I could umbrella both of my business's together. That's for Tax write off's though. You can't say, have Matt's Taxidermy and Matt's Carpets(I'm just using an example) under the same checking account, in that retrospect, you would have to have separate accounts.

I hope this helps. Talk to your CPA and ask him/her what they think. I have always talked with business professionals when trying to build my own business--and since they work in it all the time, I feel comfortable in having them share some information with me as well.

What is a CPA? :0 And thanks! I was thinking about having something like 'Fox Trail Marketing and Design' or something?

Hi Matt,

CPA is abbreviation for Certified Public Accountant. That's all! :)
