Bootcamp Progress: Week 1
Boy, have things changed on Wealthy Affiliate!
I'm relearning the platform and it's going to be fun. When I joined WA in 2018, I built a website to advertise my business. I wrote articles about learning English mostly, because that was want my customers were interested in. Now, I've started the Affiliate Bootcamp because that day job has practically disappeared, partially due to changes in the industry, but mostly due to my involvement in my parents' healthcare.
Firstly, the translation industry is still morphing, and who knows where it will go. I hope people can begin to understand that having human translators in the loop is important. Maybe when I learn to leverage AI in my writing, I can bring that expertise into my translation segment. My teaching business always slows down in the summertime, but with me changing locations, I don't know how many of my regular customers will be coming back. I'm already talking to people, and there are lots of opportunities here - even for teaching Italian!
Second, I decided to take care of my parents when my mom fell in November 2023. Since then, I've been living in their old house and making sure they had what they needed. So now, WA Bootcamp is the perfect idea for starting over.

This week:
I built Home Business Haven (homebizhaven.com) to teach people how to build their online business. I'll be talking about website building, Wealthy Affiliate (of course), mindset, and different essential aspects.
I spent most of the week setting up menus and writing necessary pages. I have one post up so far.
I created my logo and a few images with DesignPop, and I'm learning to set up blocks in the Generate Press theme.
I need help with:
Child pages: what are they and how do I create them?
Getting my content to show up in the right places on my menu.
Putting bullet lists with links in my posts.
I can't wait to try:
Bulk writing and inserting affiliate links.
Experimenting with different themes (I like Generate Press because it looks sleek)
Writing a good Wealthy Affiliate review.
Creating an editorial calendar so I don't lose focus.
Next week:
I'll let you know how this week goes. If you can help me out, please leave a comment.

Hey Marsha,
I think you have done really well so far. Keep going like a Boeing! Don't ever give up!!!
Hi, Marsha.
You've got this! Don't ever think you don't. You have already built one website, and are now taking care of your parents. This shows that you are a strong-willed and driven woman. Sometimes it will be hard, sometimes you will need to take a breath, a little time for yourself. But, I don't see you quitting. Keep at it!
Oh, from the description that Iris gives below, Child pages are what ChatGPT and I are calling Support pages. You write a Main/Pillar post, and then a number of Support posts. The rest is like she said. Don't forget the internal, external, and all the other links either.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! I need to update my profile page to include the latest life changes. Caregiving is challenging but totally worth it. My mom passed away in July and dad has short-term memory issues, so I need to be close to him.
You are welcome, Marsha, and you are right also.
I have been caring for my folks for a few years now, and Mom passed away last August. So, like you, I am taking care of Dad now.

I was also intrigued by the āBulk Writingā thing. Where do we find that on the Wealthy Affiliate website?
Hey, Brad.
To answer your question. Look to the upper left corner of the screen under the WA Logo. Below "Blog at WA" and "Ask Question", there are two little Icons. The one on the left, if you hover over it, will say "New Article," which will take you to the page to start an article from scratch or use the AI Article Designer. This is the Tab you want. On the next page, you will see "Single Post", "Bulk Writing", and "About Me". I hope this helps.

Hey Iām also in week one and found this on childs pages on Google, maybe is of any help to you.
Child pages are sub-pages nested under a main parent page on a website, organizing content hierarchically for better navigation and clarity. To create one, you first need a parent page; then, during the process of creating a new page in most website platforms (like WordPress), you select the parent page from a dropdown menu or settings section to establish the relationship.
Love to see your site progressā¦
Thank you! I'll do that today. I've been searching through all the WA content but I haven't found anything yet. There is so much content in the communities!

Looks good so far, Marsha! Nice layout :)
Keep up the good work and keep enjoying boot camp.
You may need to check out Eric's WordPress Wisdom training classes to help with the structure of your site. Remember, you can speed up the playback to go through it more quickly.
I've also followed you!

Thanks for the encouragement. And the follow!
