And it was al gone...

Ended the course 1 training, feeling just great. I had done it! I had a website that looked close to professional. Fantastic.

I had spent hours to write "About Me". Since English isn't my first language and I'm not used to express myself in English it was a challenge - but I was quite happy with the result. Would it need some editing? Of course, but not that much. It was pretty good and I wouldn't be embarrassed to show it to an English-speaking person for some editing.

Just before I went to bed I wanted to look at it again. To take the feeling of "I can do this. I can even write a good text in English." with me. I opened the page... And it was all gone... I could only find bits and pieces of the text no matter what I did.

Today I had a hard time to start again. Needed to rewrite it, but had no inspiration. Finally I started to write (this time in Word so I can keep a copy until I learn how to create a backup). I'm going to take my time and write something I can be as proud of as the first one!

I have also decided this shouldn't keep me from reaching my dreams. These days will come: the days you are wondering what you are doing and why. The days when you don't want to work. But that will be the days when you decides if you're going to be a success or not. I know who I choose to be. Who do you choose to be?

Hi Marie, sorry about your work....did you try looking in the revisions option where you save your draft and do updates...your suppose to be able to retrieve it there. :))

I tried an then I got some bits and pieces of it. But today I rewrote it on a Word document so I can keep that copy. I'm going to learn how to make a backup on Wordpress... :) So I'm back on track again!

All you need to do is Export your WordPress to your computer, this is for the whole site, but that would need to be done after your post was saved. Anyways, doing a doc in Microsoft Word is a good Idea, I do that sometimes. I used to save to my clipboard as well before I saved anything, WP likes to be saved often or it will get lost for some reason. :))

What a great post! Though I am sorry to hear you lost your about me page I really enjoyed hearing the positive note you ended on. I have heard of a couple people with this same issue lately so it might be worth mentioning in a support ticket! Christa :)

Thank you for taking the time to read and answer!

You're very welcome! :)

We all take those bumps and hopefully from experience so that it doesn't happen any more.

:)

Hi

We all have bumps in the road. The first time I wrote a book, a lightning storm hit us and I lost all 100 pages.

Pick yourself up. Dust yourself off and begin again. And yes writing it in word and pasting it is probably a wise move. Then save it as a draft and go in and do the formatting before publishing.

I love your perseverance. Keep moving forward and you will reach your goals.

Sincerely,
Caterina

Hi Caterina!
I've written a few schoolbooks used in schools in Sweden so I can just imagin how it feels to loose 100 pages! And I was complaining about 500 words... :)

Anyway, what I learn at WA is a wonderful way of using my love for writing. To write in English is a wonderful way to improve on my english and learn how to explain what I want when I can't use words the same way I use Swedish words. I have to think and rethink what I want to express to make sure I make myself understood. This will, in the end, make me a better writer.

Have a wonderful Sunday!
Marie

You too:) If you ever need help with anything, please feel free to ask.
Sincerely,
Caterina

The same!

Hi Marie. I have done this before and have been so discouraged! After moaning and groaning about it, I picked myself up and marched on. It was a big learning lesson for me and I have remembered to save my drafts and back up my site like never before! :) Michelle

I think I've learned that now! Feels good to know I'm not the only one making this misstake...

yes I have been there I know it is disappointing but it does teach you to make sure you back everything you do all the best

Lesson learned! Was too focused on the course so I forgot to do a backup.

Love the positive outlook in the face of adversity! Stay focused, stay positive, keep rockin!

I will! Thanks!

Nooo ! Oh well - trial by adversity as they say -what doesnt kill you makes you stronger and so on.:)

It made realize I'm not going to give this up. That made me stronger and more determent. :)

keep on writing...you will enjoy it! keep it up.
you can recover what you have written in your wordpress dashboard, keep saving a draft before publishing so you can go back anytime for future editing.

Thanks for the kind words! I tried to recover from the dashboard, but there I only got bits and pieces of the text. But now I finished the second one and I've kept it on a Word document too. Next step: to learn how to create a backup on Wordpress :)

Don't worry Marie it has happened to the best of us. At one time, I re-wrote one of my articles twice, and to this day I go back sometimes and re-word my articles. As far as losing an article I had deleted one by mistake and I had spent hours on it. :-))

Lesson learned :) I was so focused to do the course I totally forgot to have a backup. Thanks for the kind words and to realize I'm not alone...
