I was thinking how different Mother's Day was for me this year on a couple of levels.
First, my 86 yr old mom couldn't go out to a restaurant as we usually do as she had three teeth extracted a couple of days ago and needless to say she is rather uncomfortable and unable to chew. So my youngest son and I dropped in with flowers and a card and spent some lovely time together.
Second, my eldest is backpacking through Europe and wasn't here and he always makes Mother's Day feel special for me...plus I miss him.

So the special gift for today was one I gave myself...I spent the afternoon with the horses at the stable where I ride and I also rode for an hour outside with the sun shining and a breeze blowing (kept the bugs away!) It was awesome! My youngest came with me willingly which made it even more special...
So I had a great Mother's Day and it's not even over yet!!
