I'm feeling a little stuck. Any advice?

I have been a premium member for a little over a month. I have been working through the training and have reached the point where Kyle recommends testing pages with affiliate links and ad sense ads to see which does better. This is what I'm supposed to do.
Test 1: Have BOTH advertising and affiliate programs on the page
Test 2: Have ONLY affiliate programs on the page
Test 3: Have ONLY advertising (like Adsense) on the page

Here's my problem, I just got google analytics linked up with my SEO and I'm not getting very much traffic, at all. I have good content on my website, with good navigation, and have about 10 low-hanging fruit keyword rich content articles that are indexed in google but not ranked very high. I share on social media but don't have a lot of followers or page likes yet.
I feel like trying to do the above tests won't yield much information for me because of the lack of traffic. Therefore, I feel stuck.
I don't know if I should just try it anyway and continue with the training, or if I should focus on writing more content until I get more traffic, or if I there is something else I should be doing to get some traffic.
Any advice from the community would be greatly appreciated.
How do you get traffic? Any tips or recommendations?
