A few comments on The Give and Take Comment Thread

I've noticed on the give and take comment thread (and also the first thread with the same suggestion in the newer lessons) that some people are misunderstanding the idea behind it, unless I'm the one with the wrong idea.

I do believe it's meant for those leaving comments to sound as if you are a visitor interested in the message of the post to help with encouraging those who visit the site from search on the internet to join in the conversation. I've had comments left on my posts, and have read numerous comments left on other sites I've visited, how nice the site is set up, what a good format, you might want to change this or that, you need to clean up your grammar, good luck with your efforts to make money, etc, etc.

I believe those types of comments should be saved for your reply on the give and take thread when you reply to let someone know you left a comment on their site.

Please, anyone, correct me if I'm wrong. And if I'm not, please take heed. I don't know about anyone else who gets these sorts of comments posted on their sites, but I don't approve and reply. Those sorts of comments get sent to the trash, which means your and my time and effort were wasted.

When I get those I just edit them and then approve and reply to them as if they were originally intended to be a real visitor. It takes a little time but they can still be benificial

I have also done this a couple of times but I must admit I question the ethics here.

Well there's a thought, but I don't edit them too far from what they were. They just end up being rather short.

At least we can thrash them away , but still lose valuable time..Excellent statement Margot

Thanks for the kind words. Fortunately, I haven't had many such comments to delete, but it is a waste of time to deal with them. I've seen some sites that have had many comments regarding feedback on their progress instead of content comments, and they approved the comments. It was a bit surprising.

I've been getting several comments like this recently... it is very frustrating.

I understand. I don't see why it's so difficult to understand... Feedback stays here, comments on the subject of the website goes there! Thanks for your input on this. I hope others read your comments and "get it";

Yes, you are correct in your thinking. The comment thread is not a website review, it is a comment specific to the actual context of the content and the goal is to add a dialogue within your content about your topic.

I will update that thread description to make this more clear Margot. :)

Thanks Kyle. I'm sure that would save on people having to delete comments on their sites. All the best!

If someone asks for feed back I will do so. I also comment on sites that are a relevant topic that gave me some good info...and in a positive manner.

I do not think that they do it on purpose but I understand what you are saying. Maybe since you brought some attention to it their will be less of it all the best

To my understanding the Give and Take Thread is about leaving comments on our websites to show engagement for traffic building. Comments for corrections and grammar should be left within WA. Anyways that is how I use the thread. We are here to help one another. I have another idea that I am going to blog about within WA that should help everyone within WA. Great blog to help those that might use the thread or interrupt it differently.

Exactly! Kyle said he'd change some wording on the thread to hopefully make it more clear for everyone.

Thanks for this blog, Margot. I found it very helpful. I'm afraid I am one who misunderstood how to use the comment section, being such a newbie. I will definitely take the information I gleened here and use it going forward! I definitely want to help out fellow affiliates, not add to their workload!

I didnot get that either until I got a comment what went like this:

I want to thank you for posting this website. I found it searching for How to Build Wealth. Reading about a real program for a change has been very interesting. I’ve seen so many programs that are not legal. It says there are thousands of members here making money! I’m excited!
It sounds as if Wealthy Affiliate is what I need. I went to the getting started page and signed up for the free training.
I will see you on the other side and probably need your help creating my own business there.
Again thank you!

It came from a WA-er.
At first I thought WAUWIE I have got a new member, but when I checked the website, attached to it, I realized it was an add to help me, which he put on my site. Great respons.

So now I am doing the same.

I'm with you and Carla on this. Keep suggestions on how to improve the website within WA and, when appropriate, using Private Messages.
You can edit the comments creatively to incorporate your keyword/keyword phrase for additional SEO. ~Marion

You're not wrong. That's how I see it, too. Use the thread for the technical advice/comments, but the comment on the site is to raise the "likeability" of the site, for lack of a better term. As to the inappropriate comments on your posts, edit them. When I get spam comments, if part of it is usable, I get creative with the editing, remove the link and put it back up. :) But I believe you are correct in how that thread works.
