Getting My Ducks In Order
To get one's ducks in a row essentially means to ensure all the small details or elements are accounted for and in their proper positions before embarking on a new project.
Some sources suggest the phrase was not even used in print until the late 1970s, although a magazine article from 1932 did suggest "getting our ducks in a row."
Some say this phrase originates from sport.
Either way it is a great way to explain those elements that need to be working before you start another project. My next project is running a campaign. This is my preparation.I'm getting my ducks in order this week by;
- Getting the web page looking professional with a great landing page
- Checking links and blogs are free of error for SEO, mistakes and grammar. Although this is done early in the piece too
- Fix any Google Site error messages.
- ensure mobile usability with my theme
- ensure my subscribers lists are in order and organize a draft newsletter
- at the same time ensure some advertising will follow up the newsletter
- and my coup d'état, I leave a free download for the readers
This is no small task when I started. It would take me a week to find errors and sometimes still does. But I don't focus on that.
I leave freebies around my site for the reader who go into certain blogs.In the advertising, I encourage readers look for the freebies like a treasure hunt. For woodworkers, they are given" How to " plans for free.
I have seen some great checklists on the WA site.
If you are new, I would encourage you to seek them out. As it will save time.
Before moving on to the next project, do you have a list to check completion of current tasks?

I like your very organised and methodical approach Jen and defintitely worth applying to our own businesses.
I love the idea of a treasure hunt. Providing the reader with a little fun is an interesting way to increase engagement. Keeping your audience informed, amused and engaged is one way to grow your community. Good job Jen
