Here we go ... First Blog!

OK, so here I am writing my first WA blog entry after 45+ days of becoming a member. Why has it taken so long? Which excuse would you like me to use?

Although I joined on December 1st, I was not allowed to "use it" until the 25th. Reason? I had been talking to my family about WA and they decided to contribute to the annual membership, but only if I didn't do anything with it until after I received it as a Christmas gift. And then the busy season came and ..... more excuses. I cheated a bit, but only really started two weeks ago.

I am not fast in training courses. I prefer to take my time, understand it well and get it done perfectly. I'm beginning to realize that I'll never perfect it, so might as well just forge ahead.

Right now I'm in Course 2, Lesson 2. For those of you beyond that point you'll recall it's where you setup at least 3 pages beyond the requisite About Me and Privacy Policy pages. And most importantly, I now have to come up with some content and not just colour within the lines as so beautifully illustrated in Kyle's videos. (btw, "colour" is not a typo, I'm Canadian, eh) So now I'm afraid things will grind to a halt because I have to actually come up with some ideas. Can you tell I'm a left-brainer?

Hopefully my chosen first niche is more suited to my right brain. I have thrown a few things together and would really appreciate comments, criticisms and concerns (don't worry, I can take it) about my first stab ever in whole entire life at a website, found here ... http://trainhalfmarathon.com/

One specific little issue I have right now is this: on my browser when on the home page, the browser tab refers to "Running Gear ....", a former title I was using. I have changed the title and subtitle in Wordpress, but somewhere this former title is lurking and I can't find it.

Many thanks for your help.

I do like the subject matter- I am a keen runner and will do the Hastings (UK) half in late March, so have just done my LSD or "long ride" as I call it..for this weekend at least....the content is great, and called to me as someone with experience and probably a similar age and stage. Directly speaking: weaving some images in would be great, and putting a featured image for each post would be a great way to get these down the right hand side in the recent posts widget... Gadzooks, I think you might be on to something here....Hill reps, above race pace training, positive split middle distance runs, fartlek, if you are not familiar already I just love "The Lore of Running" by Dr Tim Noakes but lost my copy. GREAT JOB!

Hi Andy.
Thanks so much for the kind and thoughtful comments about my website. Always great to get the opinion of another runner.

"Long ride" ... nope, never heard it called that but I love it and will steal it from you!! I did mine yesterday (16 km) and will blog about it by tomorrow. My race is May 4th, so I still have some time to go. I have heard of the Noakes book but have not read it .. I'll add it to my list of must reads.

Thanks again, and good luck with your training and your race.
Mike

The site looks good. I couldn't see the "running gear" wording. Maybe because I'm on a kindle. Anyway, I really like the stats page. I appreciate your honesty and the inspiration page. Everyone needs a kick in the rear sometimes. You are well on your way. One note: I saw your reply to the comment on your About Me page, it say "admin", you should go into your Users setup in your editor and update your name and change yourself to the author.
Hope this helps, good luck to you. Onward and upward!

That is great they made you wait to "open" your present. Good luck and way to blog!!
