A Great Article on Content to Share
Hello wonderful WA family
I was initially hesitant to share a link to an article, I read on Google on my train ride home, for fear of possibly breaking any rules here, but after some pondering decided to give it a go. It really reinforces the training of and breaks down the value of quality Content.
The article is from SEL -Search Engine Land website. The title is "Why is content marketing important? 9 Reasons to use content" by Julia McCoy 11-14-22. Since I am not able to provide the link, at least if you are interested then this is where to go.
Here are the 9 headings.
1. Content Marketing Builds Authority on your own platform-not rented land (ex. Facebook, Twitter et.)
2. It Grows Trust with your audience like no other.
3. Content Marketing brings in higher-quality leads.
4. Content Helps You Rank in search engines for Better visibility.
5. Content Marketing cost less than traditional marketing, but has a better ROI.
6. Consumers would rather see Content than Ads.
7. Your competitors are using content marketing.
8. It makes Your Website better-more useful and highly optimized.
9. It nurtures customers into loyal fans.
The read is but 10 minutes and provides ranking with graphs, percentages, and data that I found very helpful. For example in number 4. "Content Helps You Rank in Search Engines for Better Visibility"- on page one of a Google search, a paid Ad will be on top but only 2.1% of people click the Ad. I'm one that doesn't. Whereas a 39% CTR -click-through rate is for organic (non-paid) #1 below the Ad, 18% will click #2, and so on down. High-quality content to achieve page one is so valuable.
Being new, I thought of our newer members in how content is reiterated here so often, this article reinforces why the importance and value of content before anything else is paramount, especially in starting out.
Have a great week.

My hope is those new knowing little, like me, and learning lots about content will read it and see that quality content is the key to succeeding in this business in attaining the necessary traffic for any financial benefit(s).
I enjoy reading SEL. It is interesting statistics that paid ads are rarely clicked yet the ads are what help Google become “rich” and the people who pay the ads want revenue they lose a lot of money. Organic non-paid ads work way better especially if the site has high authority that provides top-quality content.
It is interesting to watch Neil Patel in his video this morning explaining that Google now is using a study on a quick read. That is why we will see how many minutes an article takes to read. A quick read simply refers to content that people are looking to solve immediately. 1,200 words or more article won't help with that. If an article provides a solution with 600 words or less then a quick read will appear on that article. I thought this made sense. I thought the paid ads don't make sense if not many are clicking on them. You are correct, I don't either because it doesn't answer my question. I click below the ads that I look for and the People ask section. I am in the range of 18 percent of the people that click below two and then the last area People ask. I wonder what the stats are on that. I noticed more people are clicking People ask. I am one of those clickers with that habit. Google studies my clicks.
Hi Brenda
Yes I really enjoyed SEL for the first time, with this article. It really was well done. And the stats were a huge surprise too. Paying for an Ad is losing money for sure. I am one of those that will go 4-5 pages or more sometimes when searching. Funny how my wife is one of those that clicks the Ad on a search. Definitely plan to read their column, I subscribed right after reading the article. Hit home for me. Since content is most important, quality content that is. Just a ton of great information. Have an awesome week. Thank you for your input, I always appreciate what you have to say. It has helped me many times.
Hey David,
Wow, this is very helpful information. Thank you.
I don't use ads... I find them annoying so I'm good on that #6..

Always good to see something that might be worthwhile shared, David!

That's great information David, thanks for the share my friend!
I wish I would have been able to copy and paste but SEL wouldn't let me. The article really broke it down for me, thus inspiring me to spend more time on research. Another hour could make all the difference in ranking as opposed to indexing if that. Thank you for the uplifting reply.
That is a shame David, but I totally agree that an extra hour of research can affect how we rank in the long term...
Thanks again my friend!
