What a Week Coming up!
Looking forward to a big week this week. Start today with my eldest granddaughter's 11th birthday. It's Sunday morning in New Zealand, waking up after the awesome Bledisloe Cup rugby series between New Zealand and Australia, which New Zealand has won, despite a thrashing from the Wallabies last week in Perth, to the All Blacks giving them a drubbing last night, just weeks from the Rugby World Cup. I'm sure at least some of you will appreciate that.
I started getting back into my website last week after a month of uncertainty where my team at work was disestablished along with my job, leading 15 people.
I applied for 2 jobs more or less in the same place. I missed out on one because I am off work waiting for back surgery after over a year of with a back injury which ACC, our national insurers are saying is age based degeneration. They needed someone to start immediately. I don't even have a surgery date and the initial recovery period after the surgery, where I can go back to work on light duties, is around 8 weeks.
On Tuesday I will be allowed to drive for the first time in over a year, because I have reduced the level of pain killers I have been taking. This is awesome because being a passenger in a car is very painful for me because I can't anticipate in what direction my back is going to be pushed.
On Thursday at 1:30PM I have a meeting with a surgeon at our local public hospital in the North Shore of Auckland, where It has taken 4 1/2 months after my 'urgent' referral, to see someone for a first appraisal. I'd hate to think how long it would have been if I wasn't urgent.
Then after that at 4:30PM I am seeing a private surgeon who I have seen twice before, which is the one the insurance company don't want to pay for. The public health service is free in New Zealand but I could be retired by the time I get treatment!
Either way I will know what my options are and based on that will make a decision very quickly, because I really need to be back at work. I feel like I have lost a week of my life!
Then on Friday I will find out if I have been successful in the second job I applied for, for which I had an interview on Wednesday last week. They know about my back and I am hoping that they will wait for me. I told them that if I know I have the job, I will book the surgery straight away.
So wish my luck. I'm flat out here and there trying to get my life back in order. I'm not ready for the trash heap:)
Have a great week friends:)

Best wishes! My husband and I have a saying that we have good bad luck... that is, we have bad luck like anyone does but it typically turns out with a good twist. I wish you the same.
Good luck
