X Is Changing Again, and This Time It Might Actually Help Creators

It has been a while since I wrote here, but today I wanted to jump back in with something that caught my attention. X, formerly Twitter, is changing its algorithm again, and this update might actually matter for anyone building an audience online.

Recently, X announced that it will recommend posts from “mutuals” more often. In other words, if two people follow each other, their posts will now appear more frequently in each other’s feeds.

At first glance, that sounds obvious. Shouldn’t friends see each other’s posts?

But according to X’s product lead Nikita Bier, the platform didn’t prioritize mutual connections before. As a result, the replies under many posts felt like a battlefield full of strangers instead of a conversation among people who actually know each other.

Now X wants to fix that.

Why This Matters for Creators

For anyone building an online presence, whether for affiliate marketing, blogging, or brand growth, this shift is worth paying attention to.

  • More visibility among your actual audience. If someone follows you and you follow them, your posts are more likely to show up. That means stronger engagement with people who already care about your content.
  • Friendlier comment sections. X hopes that showing more posts from mutuals will reduce hostile replies and create more interest‑based groups. In theory, that means more meaningful interactions instead of random negativity.
  • Better community building. If you are trying to grow a niche audience, this update could help your content reach the right people more consistently.

The Second Big Change: Less Boosting of Recycled Content

This month, X also announced another algorithm tweak. Posts that are simply copied or reposted from other users (recycled) will be recommended less often, and accounts relying on reposts will earn less money.

This is a major shift. It means X wants to reward original creators instead of copy‑paste accounts.
For anyone who creates their own content, this is good news.

What This Means for Us at WA

Whether you use X as a traffic source, a networking tool, or a place to share your niche content, these changes point in a clear direction.

  • Original posts will matter more.
  • Mutual connections will matter more.
  • Engagement will probably become more personal and less chaotic.
  • Building a small but loyal audience might become easier than chasing viral reach.

X seems to move away from broadcasting to strangers and toward connecting with people you actually interact with. That is a healthier direction for creators.

My Takeaway

It is refreshing to see platforms trying to make social media feel less like a battlefield and more like a community again. If X continues in this direction, it might become a more useful tool for creators who value connection over noise.

I am curious to see how these changes play out and how we, as content creators, can use them to strengthen our online presence.

Have a wonderful weekend.
