AI is my assistant. My SEO plugin is my architect.

I’ve been thinking about something this week.
With AI being our assistant, our editor, our brainstorm partner, our challenger… which WordPress plugins are still truly necessary?
And one question kept coming back:
Do we still need an SEO plugin when AI can help us write and optimize our content?
I’ll be honest:
I never write “SEO blog posts.”
I write what I think, what I feel, and what I observe.
I write my opinion.
I write about my experiences.
SEO is never on my mind when I’m typing.
And yet… my website still needs SEO.
Just not the kind I thought.
AI helps the writer.
An SEO plugin helps a website.
AI can help with:
- keywords
- headings
- meta descriptions
- readability
- structure
- internal links
- content gaps
- FAQ suggestions
That’s content‑SEO.
But an SEO plugin does something completely different:
- sitemaps
- robots.txt
- canonical tags
- schema markup
- breadcrumbs
- index control
- permalink structure
- technical warnings
- integration with Search Console

That’s technical‑SEO.
AI can optimize the wording.
A plug‑in optimizes the system.
Two different layers.
Two different jobs.
⭐ So… do we still need an SEO plugin?
Yes, but not for writing.
We need it because:
- Google still reads your website structure
- sitemaps still matter
- canonical tags still prevent duplicate issues
- schema still helps visibility
- robots.txt still guides crawlers
- technical errors still hurt rankings
AI cannot fix those things.
It can only help you write better content.
So the real question becomes:
What do you want AI to do?
And what do you want your website to handle automatically?
For me, the answer is simple:
I write with AI.
My website runs on SEO.
A small personal insight
AI helps me express what I think.
It helps me refine my ideas.
It helps me structure my thoughts.
But it doesn’t decide my purpose.
It doesn’t choose my direction.
And it doesn’t manage my website’s architecture.
So yes, even in an AI‑rich world, I still keep my SEO plugin.
Not because I write for SEO.
But because my website needs a system that Google understands.
AI is my assistant.
My SEO plugin is my architect.
What do you think?
Do you still use an SEO plugin?
Or do you rely more on AI now?
I’m curious how others see this shift.
