Why give worthless comments?!?!?
I got this comment today on one of my posts:
"Hi there! That's a nice post you have created here.
Very nicely explained and easy for a reader to understand.
I will definitely come back to this site in the future.
I'm sure many people will find this article as useful and interesting as I did.
Thanks for sharing this nice information.
Cheers and best of luck to you."
It is absolutely worthless to me and has nothing to do with my post! I have actually seen the same comment before, many times, although not from a fellow member of WA and I have labeled it as spam every time just as I did this time.
If I take the time to read someone else's posts and write something that is of value then I expect to get the same treatment! It is sad that this is not obvious to all in this community and that it has to be repeated over and over again: if you WANT quality comments; you GIVE quality comments. If you are a lazy bastard, then don't ask others to give what you don't give, it's as simple as that!
Enough ranting from me :)
Wishing you a lovely day,
Kristina

I do rant about this. I don't understand why they give such comment. I know I do my part when I leave comments. And I feel frustrated when I get comments like that especially when they have nothing to do with my site. Anyway, thanks for ranting for me, Kristina. Lol.
I'm hearing this more often these days and that's to bad! Most of the comments I have gotten from WA members have been very helpfull but there have been 1 or 2 that were primmers. When I leave comments I am thorough.

Most members leave very helpful comments and that is great; I really like the comments system, it's great! Just too bad that some decide to abuse it like this, I hope they will learn to respect other people's time and efforts.
All the best, Kristina
Hi - I think if you imagine how many comments are left on sites through this feature, this exact message probably is in the point something of a percent - so although we may see it a lot, it may not be prevelant enough to trigger spam detection.
A lot of people are probably just grateful for any comment, and they are not flagging it as spam.
If enough of us do flag as spam, I'm certain it will start to be recognised, and filtered out.
The comment system is relatively new, and I think is a great feature - if we persevere with spending a little time reporting and making it "learn" then I think we will have a fantastic additional tool to help us here.
All the best, Mark
Agreed. When I do site feedback I follow the instructions and provide a minimum of 250 words. Which, if you have reviewed the site is easy to do.
When I do Comments it is at least 50 words. Again not hard to do if you have reviewed the site. I believe that I work hard to provide comments and site feedback and in return I often get one or two sentences.
Not saying I don't enjoy providing feedback. I do because I think it helps us improve. But that is what I want also. It is impossible for us to improve if we don't get honest feedback.
Thanks for pointing this out again. As you said it has been pointed out many times.
I follow the rules too, and do my best to give quality comments and thus I expect to get the same back. It actually seems very childish to act like this guy does!
This is a 'universal comment'; this person is using it everywhere, wasting our credits and time.
Could be, but sometimes I get comments without even asking, so there is a glitch in the system somewhere.
Credits do not come back if you decline a comment. Carson said they do but after rejecting a number of them I have not seen them back.
But extra comments come because the system becomes depleted and previously added posts for comments are then injected in a random manner. I blogged about it earlier, this is my unconfirmed theory but it is obvious: New comment thread is not sustainable
Hi Kristina, I have seen this problem from many members, one would think the word is out by now. Good that you vented!
Best to you...:)
Stay Awesome!
Hi William, and thanks! Yes, one would think so but it seems some just can't learn.
Live long and prosper :D
This drives me crazy, really waste of space. To get a comment to your site you need to leave 2 comments then someone comes and leaves rubbish on your site and you still have to explain why you can't accept it spending even more time.
Wish you success.
I agree, to be honest, I have actually stopped using the comment system because of this. I only go on threads and ask for comments and if I don't get one that talks about my content and is engaging then I don't return the favour by commenting on there.
The site comments tool is powerful, but it gets abused.
I wonder if it is the same people who do this or if there is a security problem within the comment system? Really irritating anyway :/
site comment tool is much better than the old system, many times you leave comments and no one comment back.Recently left comments to 5 sites and asked for a comment and social shares, got 1 line comment in return.
So,site comment tool may not always work but l prefer it to the leave comment thread.
Not me, I don't know why but I get a lot of comments this way :) My post yesterday about getting 100 comments mostly came from doing that.
I had that same comment three times today too. I tried reporting it to support as it appears to be spam.
I reported it too, I don't get how it can be considered unique when it is so obviously copy-paste?
i have been seeing the same crap too!! I'm sure where it's coming from because I never requested any comments for my blog at all within the WA community
Every now and then I will get an authentic comment from a website visitor but I just count them as spam now until I see an authentic comment which isn't that common...
I'm not sure....I have been getting some legit comments...It's just those weird comments that come in out of no where....those are the ones that are very strange to me...
How very strange that you got a comment without asking for it! Could it actually be some sort of security problem within the comments section?

I got exactly the same one!
I've started responding very sternly and giving link to training. Tell them the comment is of no earthly use and to go through the training before they leave more. Writing Website Comments-Best Practices I do get some good ones though so the comment system does work. :)
Wonder if it's from the same guy or if there is some bug in there?
I have received some very good comments too, but getting this is irritating and takes time to do something about. I hope he learns soon and stops doing this!
That was the diplomatic approach... To send training! LOL -Alexc
