What we can learn from elephants!
Hey there everyone,
I remember a story from when I was younger about the way huge elephants in Southeast Asia are kept restrained by only a small stake and tiny rope around their leg.
I learnt that these elephants from the earliest possible age are tied to large posts where they strain, pull and fight against the restraint until they finally accept that their futile efforts toward breaking free are in vain.
These young elephants then grow into great strong animals that still believe they cannot do anything different when tied up so they only require the small stake and adjoining rope to keep the animal restrained.
I was recalling this story recently when facing a challenge of which seemed insurmountable until I analysed what it was that made it seem that way.
When dissected, the issue that was present wasn't actually really that difficult to solve with the right resources, it just required a different approach than what I was used to. It also involved me stretching myself and getting 'uncomfortable' to find the solution.
Anyhow the point I really want to share is that often the real problem is, like the elephant analogy, we think we can't do something so we resign to that outcome. Often this is because we are too 'narrowed' up in the way we are thinking, comfortable with 'doing things they we have always done things' and added to that is human nature's natural resistance to change.
So believe in yourself and stay positive when faced with a challenge...look at the ways it can be solved...NOT all the reasons why it can't be!
Adios:)

You are so RIGHT ! Some times I run into a problem and don't know where to look for the answer. Now, through the help from my husband he says, "go to google"
If we really want to solve a problem, we cannot become discourage. I feel, we get discouraged when we don't know where to find answers and direction.
Is it really being AFRAID of change we resist or is it, we don't know how to change?
Being here at WA makes us available to change and learning new directions to take when problems occur.
Yes, we must stay positive and tell ourselves, "WE CAN".. That is our hope.
Thanks Leigh,
Lora

Leigh, very well put. What you're saying is what my Niche is about. Human behavior is identical to your elephant story. Nice for me to see positive vibes. Your challenge to change your approach was masterful.
