To sell or not to sell the website!

Hey, all!

Well, the job situation sucks big time.

Just got laid off Friday but the job call was only for two months anyway. The nature of my trade.

Some jobs ya answer the call for two weeks and wind up working for the company 30 years. I didn't get so lucky.

Might be able to work in Iowa at a fertilizer plant but waiting to hear if they're hiring in the next couple days.

Hoping this happens because I need to build that nest egg back up. If it does, I could be working 5-11's and an 8 on Saturday.

So ya can see no time to work on site.

I talked to another WA member and she suggested I could,

1) Sell the website.

2) Write this post and get suggestions from the community, LOL!!

3) Keep my WA membership up to date. This way the website is hosted here and it doesn't die or disappear.

So, my WA family, got any suggestions for me??

Larry

I get really tied for time myself and struggle to post on my sites. What I do is use a notepad on my desk top & just write notes about certain topics whenever I have a minute.

Over the weeks these notes build up and before you know it you've made a post.

If you really need help I know your niche like the back of my hand. If you need help writing some articles I'm happy to help out.

Very cool to know I have a WA big brother!!

Will being staying in touch Jay!!

Thanks for being there!!

Larry

Hope you can remain positive after your job loss. It's important.

What about getting someone to write your posts for you. I believe you can outsource work at a fairly decent price to fiverr or such sites. There was a post on it just a week or so ago. If you are time-poor, it could be a way to go. You might have to do some final editing processes but it would certainly take less time.

Tough times sorry to hear your job situation, I like Helen's idea to record your posts during break times, some phones have a voice recorder on them so could use that for what its worth if you can keep your membership here it would be a good long term investment for the future wish you every success not an easy time by the sounds of it

It sounds like you have made your mind up to stay. Good! Get a dictaphone or something so you can verbally create in your coffee breaks and lunch time. Even travelling to work. That's if you can still get these!

OOOHHH!!

Good one. Haven't heard of this but will look into this.

Thanks, Helen!!

Always good to see you and wish we could talk more often.

Larry

Larry, I think pinkabella made a good point--it's worth considering! Good luck and God bless,
Ed

Thanks, mijareze.
Like I said, I ain't going nowhere.

Good meeting you and will see more of ya.

Larry

Well Larry I wouldn't be to hasty to leave WA and sell your site. It is your baby your creation and I am sure that somewhere down the line you could spend an hour or two here in your wind down time at the end of your working day. Think of the great friends you have made here and if your site is making money then there is more money for your nest egg. Think long and hard before you make any rash moves. Take care and I wish you every success in what ever you decide to do.

Thanks, pink.
Will do and way to be there.

LArry

We would miss you if you went

I am sure you will manage to pencil in a couple of hours a week to work on your site and keep in touch with your friends here at WA.

I ain't leaving WA!!
Just might not have the time to be here or do the work on the website.
Like ya said I got too many friends that won't let me quit!!
Besides, WA members are the only one's who listen to my couch potato guitar playing, LOL!!

Thanks, pink!!
Will do and I'll make sure your one of them.

Thank you

Hey Larry,

Is your website generating cash flow? Or do you have any assets that generate cash flow?

How much do you have in your nest egg? Personal question I know but if it is a sizeable amount then perhaps the best idea would be to invest it in something that will generate cashflow so you won't have to rely on a job, the job will be your second income, the icing on the cake.

There are a ton of inexpensive cashflow generating assets, rental properties (no money down, use leverage on your current house, + many other ways that won't cost you very much to get into) if you do it right you'll be able to get one and then leverage that one to get another.

Or there is the stock market, purchasing stocks with high dividend yields, then you'll get a payday every 1/4 or every half year, not sure about US stocks but NZ stocks pay up to 14% dividend yield.

In regards to your website, how much effort have you put into it? Has it been going for years? Or just weeks?

If it's just weeks it might pay to cut your losses and save the extra cash to put towards something that will give you an instant more reliable return, if it's been live for years and has a cult following and a lot of returning visitors then you might want to reconsider and find ways of monetising it faster, or better.

Hope this helps!

Hey, Aiden.
The nest egg is empty and all your suggestions are the one's my wife and I have looked into.
Well, the stock market thing is just way over our heads and hard for us to understand.
Using any kind of money against the house is scary and we are very relucted to touch it.
At our age, we are scared of being in debt or our retirement paying for something we did years ago.
The website only been up for 8 months and no money flowing in.
Got a lot of Asian like's from FB but no cult following as you mention. So, so much for the idea of selling the website.

Thanks for your time and input Aiden.
I appreciate your support and advice.

Hey Larry,

My first suggestion would be to seek expert advice, you may be on in your years but the fight is not up.

I'd highly recommend you go and speak with a financial advisor ASAP if they are good the will definitely be able to advise you on what to do in your situation, jobs come and go with the economy so maybe you need to look elsewhere.

The thing you have to remember about risk is nothing is risky, YOU are risky.

By that I mean, everything is safe unless YOU make it unsafe, getting out of bed is risky, what if you have a bad day? What if you piss off the wrong person and they kill you? What if you cross the road without looking with your face buried in your phone and you get hit by a car?

The point I'm trying to make is everything is risky to an uneducated mind (not talking about school smarts here).

Find someone that knows what they are doing and listen to and take their advice, and most importantly, take action, do not sit idle.

I keep looking over your comment and keep thinking maybe...

What have you got to lose Larry? It sounds like you're almost out of options as it is, take the leap and do it, even if it doesn't answer all your questions at least you've taken action in the right direction.

Action will always be better than inaction

Aiden
Thank you for the push!!

Will talk to my wife and we will be doing some research.

Please keep an eye out for me.

Larry

Hey Larry,

Keep in contact via private message and let me know how you get on, I know a bit about this area of life so do not hesitate if you need some guidance or help finding the right person for the job, I believe everyone should have a financial education as money is indeed what makes the world go round.

Hey, Aiden.

Will do!!

It might be some time before I get back to ya.

I like to do some research before I look ya up with questions.

Larry

I suggest waiting things out before you make any moves. You have a great foundation built on your site and are indexed and ranked in the GOD known as Google. Your also not 100% certain that your hours will change at your day job .... Or when for that matter.

You are at a point where the decision will impact the rest of your life.

Me, I feel there are two types of folks when all the meaningless stuff is pared away ... Leaders and Followers.

Only you can decide which one you are Larry.

I know what I feel you are but that I will not say.

ROCK ON!
E

Sheep, HUH!?!?!
I'm hurt that you're calling me a sheep, Eric!!
LOL!!
Found out years ago through the Army, I have no leadership skills, LOL!!

Not giving up on WA or the internet Marketing. Folks like you won't let me quit and I'm not going to.

You're right about the job thing. Job could be there tomorrow or not and the hours could change as well. Sounds like you been there done that!!

So far, it looks like I can't sell the thing and the good thing is my WA membership is still good for the rest of the year so the hosting will keep the website alive somewhat.

Good to hear from ya and get your support, Eric.

Stay in touch and you keep things going yourself.

Larry

You if you could swing it Larry, I would stay here. WA isn't going anywhere I believe. It would be that one foundation brick that is there! Whatever you decide, you have my best wishes for success.

Thanks, Gary!! Love ya being there!!

I'm not going anywhere or leaving WA anytime soon. Just might have to spend a lot less time here and work a lot more hours at whatever job I can find.

Larry

Yea Larry, I understand. It is the way life works sometimes isn't it. GLAD YOU STAYING!
