Protecting a Proposal!

Well, it's time for me to back to my trade as a union pipefitter, local 208. For those of you that don't know what this is.

I install the piping system for the comfort level of the building. HVAC.

For the apprentice side, I was thinking of offering a website that is engaging for the apprentice and journeymen.

The website would have blogs written by journeymen and a forum for both to interact with one another or a live chat.

To present the idea and protect it from someone else getting or taking the idea and/or giving it to another member or hire someone outside of the hall.

How do I do this?? So I keep the idea and make this my own??

Would you think a small conversation with the apprenticeship coordinator in presenting the idea would be a good start??

Your idea can work well

Thank you, Divican.

I think your idea is sound and I will follow your progress. My partner loves playing with circuit diagrams and building electonic devices for us. I am sure he could do something interacting with people who need tailored designs.

Thanks Helen.
Will keep you posted.

Sorry I don't have a quote from Einstein, LOL!!

Larry

Sounds like a good idea.

Thanks Larry
I know you're a tradesman as well.
So you know the idea to provide something the younger apprentice can be attracted to. For this kind of help and the journeyman who wants to improve his skills are too tired or lazy to go to the hall for the training after work. Both can get it from this website.

Will seek your ideas and opions on this.

Larry

I was a tradesman for many years. I was a Master Industrial Electrician. Don't know how much help I can be but if you think I can offer some constructive criticism or advice, just let me know. Good luck with this project.

Thank you, Larry.
I will most likely seek you advice and criticism.

Larry

I would think you could put together a proposal, and set up a SiteRubix 'Proof of Concept' site so they can get a better idea what you have in mind. Have a menu structure, and sample pages/posts.

This might be overkill, and take a little time, but it would also help you with screenshots and demos for your proposal.

A very good friend of mine is a tradesman, and I'm not sure what type of devices he uses, besides a mobile phone, so it would probably need to be a very mobile friendly site.

I like the idea though. My friend goes away for weeks at a time on jobs, so this would be a way for them to keep up, beyond text messages.

Gary

Thank you, Gary.
I was thinking the same thing in showing a website.

Think I might start one now.

Larry

I think it's a way to protect the idea, in a way, since you can show something, rather than just talk about what you want to do.

Gary

Hey, Gary.

Couldn't keep my mouth shut.

When I went to our hall and talked to the apprenticeship coordinator he wrote this down in his notebook. I asked him what he would like to see in the website and I shared my ideas as well.

Going to build that site and try to present this to him next week sometime.

I'll keep you posted and look for you're input.

Larry

Ok, great. Good luck!

Hi Larry:

I was an underground utility foreman, supervisor, planner and owner for 30 years. I understand that it is a bit different trade, but my thoughts is that there is a kindred relationship among people in a trade.

I would think that a pipe fitter "war story" site or community would be very attractive and successful. Maybe a site that gives help to aspiring pipe fitters.

I am not sure if this is an answer to your question, but I gave it my best shot.

Best to you
BigDaddyFred

Hey there trades brother!!

Your suggestion could be an add-on to the website.

I aiming to help build the apprenticeship program.
The website would have the instructors writing blogs on steamfittin' 101, HVAC, basic electronics, etc. Maybe some live webinars like Jay does.

Should I present the idea in a small conversation to the coordinator or write a full proposal to protect the idea??

Thanks bigdaddyfred!!
