How much to Charge for services rendered?
I have an opportunity to give advice to my hand therapist website.
They have FB and no other social media, twitter, Pinterest, etc.
This is where I suggested I could help.
Did a Google search and saw that their site needs lots of work.
How much should I ask for??
They're pics take the reader to the media file, they got links instead of content and one link to a newspaper is 404.
To me, there are a lot of improvements that could be done here.
Thanks, WA members!! Not just for thanking you all ahead of time but the support I going to receive, I know comes from the greatest of people.

You need to figure out what your time is worth for doing the project. Only you know what your time is worth.
Hey, Larry!!!
Good seeing ya!!
Sorry, I've hadn't been in contact with ya much, but you know the drill. Content, content, content.
Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Larry, check this out and see if it helps. There are some suggested prices on there. How You Can Make A Killing This Weekend Hope it helps you out.
Hi, Vanessa.
Will look into this.
Please, give me some time to let ya know what I got out of this.
There is so much to look over from the support I'm receiving I'm doing a victory dance just from the replies I'm getting, LOL!!
Way to be there, sister.

Hi Larry. Just wondering - how much does the hand therapist charge YOU per hour and how much do you think he/she can afford? I agree with the others that it would be good to charge for a chunk of time and give them an idea what you will be doing for them in that amount of time. But quoting for 20 hours at $50 per hour may be too much for them.
If I was the hand therapist, the question I would be asking (myself) is 'How much extra business is this website improvement going to bring me?' and 'Is this website improvement worth x amount of money?' (especially if I have as much work as I can cope with anyway).
Just my thoughts... hope you find them useful.
Isabella
Thank you for your thoughts and always good to see you.
Will and have given thought to your suggestion.

Here is a site that should give you an idea, it's UK but you'll catch the drift. :) http://www.pixel5.co.uk/website-maintenance-prices/
Thank you, Kathy.
How are you and hope all is well.
Was just looking at the info you sent and this really helps me to plan a proposal.

Wow Kathy...
I am Not sure I would call anything related to WordPress professional, however we market ourselves as the low-cost entity. Because my partners and I were trained by IBM we have a system... Looking at the prices from the site above we are about half their rate. we don't steal from people because we know something they don't. We only have 9 customers. most of them are not WordPress. All they need to do is look up normal prices on the internet. One step in the wrong direction and your credibility is destroyed.
Somewhere I learned the low cost and the high cost are the most sustainable businesses... Middle of the road people get killed by trends.
I've seen plenty of other sites with similar prices in the UK, just wanted to give Larry an idea of a pricing structure more than the actual prices.
It's easy to get caught out saying you'll "maintain" a site, what does this maintenance entail. You'll know this yourself being in the business, important to set things up properly from the start.
Larrys got lots of good advice here, I'm sure he won't overcharge. :)
he can charge whatever he wants. the used car industry has a business of model get what you can. this model has moved to the computer repair industry as well. I don't subscribe to that.
No, I agree, and its one of the reasons I took a degree, to learn how to fix my own PCs. I got fed up paying through the nose and getting a machine back that was still broken!
Also, adding to what the others have said, make sure they know what you're going to do for that maintenance charge. It's easy to get caught out with numerous updates, proofreading, optimising images etc.
Have a contract made out to keep you both right, you can do your own.
If want more details and sample contract let me know. :)
the way I see it is you can charge $50 an hour bill for 20 hours to build the site and create content then charge them $50 a month to maintenance the site. You'll only have to pay 24.50 for hosting because you'll be getting 22.50 of the 47 here at WA paid for. So you'll be banking 25 a month an have to make updates changes etc. you have liability and responsibility this way but get quick upfront money. Or you could direct them through your affiliate link to WA let them do it themselves and you collect 22.50 a month for showing them WA with no liability investment of time or On going work. It depends on what your looking for. http://Financialfreedomcreator.com stay blessed
I know that Jay (magistudios) suggests quoting a price for so many hours of work rather than quoting a per hour rate. He likes to go with an average of $50 per hour but likes to quote for 20 hours of work or so.
Steveo!!
Good to see you again!!
How ya been??
Thanks again for the heads up and will look into Jay's info.
Larry

Hi Larry, congrats on your opportunity, although I can only give my support and ^5 on it as I have no idea how to charge for site repairs :-)

You can handle this Larry. Don't under price yourself, you're offering a professional service. I'm not sure what the going rate would be where you are, but easily £50/ph here in the UK as other have previously stated.
Thanks, Jay.
Will talk at ya later soon.
