Blind Leap of Faith

I really have no idea how it happened, but my website, The Bird With Acrophobia is currently ranked 'dead first' on Yahoo and is now on the first page of Google for the search term of the same name. Maybe part of the reason is that it's a unique name for a website, so it's easier for Google to pick up.
However, since I'm doubtful that birds with a pathological fear of heights are in demand anywhere on the internet, I won't regard this as a significant milestone just yet. Not least because it all happened by accident rather than design. And it's still only within the first few weeks of the website going online so I have a long way to go.
Feels like I'm just spamming the internet...

Anyhow, since I've started to see some results, I've just spent literally the whole day, working like crazy on The Bird With Acrophobia, filling it with all sorts of waffle - some researched, some not so much (but I've taken pains to point it out if that is the case).
It's ironic, I had actually stopped working on The Bird With Acrophobia halfway through after realising I probably wasn't passionate enough to build a website around making money online. Plus, you can only beat a dead horse for so long and the 'earning money online' niche has probably been done to death many times over - and done better at that. I'm looking at you, WA.
I've also been working on another website, which has also been picked up by Google's radar. One of the blog posts on my website is currently ranked 9th on the 1st page of Google. Again, while it contains a keyword that I researched earlier on Jaaxy, I probably didn't mean for it to end up that way. Once again, accident and not design. But at least I'm getting somewhere, if blindly.

Took just over a week to get there. Not bad...
Having said that, I think I'm starting to get a real feel for how SEO works. I've tried a few things out as an experiment, so I guess I'll just have to wait for at least another couple of weeks and see where it takes me.
