I love books!

I love books, all kinds. One of my favorite childhood memories is when I learned to read. I was hooked . Ever since I have read every book I could get my hands on.

A little about me. I live in the beautiful mountains of Idaho . Boise is the capital of Idaho and is near mountains, lakes, and streams. I am retired . I haven't done a very good job of being retired. I've tried four times but I think this is the one where I'll be able to stick to it. I worked for thirty years in the public schools as a school counselor, with all ages of students. Books were always an important part of my practice. The term used in the field is "bibliotherapy".

Children's self help books can be a wonderful way to start hard conversations with children. It enables them to formulate questions that they might not know to ask. I hope to be able to share with you some of my favorite books and material that I used when I was working. I hope to cover a wide range of topics. And of course, I want to be able to help you help children, whatever your role in their lives.

The other love of my life are my two dogs Chloee and Bella, and my eight grandchildren. (Not necessarily in that order! ) Chloee is a Golden doodle. The poodle does not show so she looks like a true golden. She is just a puppy and is a moose. She is a lot bigger than I thought she would be. She rolls and tumbles and is short on manners. She was a Puppy School dropout I think we need to re enroll. Bella is a Golden mix and is about fourteen years old. She has been a wonderful companion but is showing her age. She tolerates Chloee but I can tell she gets pretty tired of Chloee's antics.

I could write a book about my grandchildren. Hey, good idea! My daughter adopted seven children from the foster system. They all are special needs with their own stories to tell. She has a huge heart for children and has done amazing things for them. My son has one boy and he is a typical six year old.
