Been thrown a curve ball. Gosh, a beach bums dream coming super true!
Well for those of you that have been following me here at WA, you will all by now be in the know of the fact that my Mozambique Dream of a Beach bum has pretty much taken off. Bank accounts are now open, ready to pay for my house and get my business of holiday sales and rentals off the ground and well, practically ready to move.
Now, here's the curve ball, I have been given the opportunity to buy into a Boutique Motel in Zanzibar, which is already a running concern. My partner (at my age I don't feel boyfriend is the correct word :) ) will be joining me there too..... what to do, what to do? Oh Golly.
I have acquainted so many in Mozambique, befriended someone who has assisted me in registering my business, offered me partnership in a world-wide travel and accommodation website and now the bank account is open. I don't want to dissappoint him or let him down after all he has done for me, but at the same time, business is business I guess.
At this point we will only know for sure at the end of the month if Zanzibar is an option or not, the wait both excites and scares me as my dreams were set for Mozambique ..... I guess a beach bum could be a beach bum anywhere in the world.
Bar the wait we have to face, what would you opt to do, really in a scary sticky situation here where most people would be saying the world is your oyster and you have the opportunity.
Anyway back to WA with avengeance as this will be the basis of my future in a way I guess. Need to get some affiliates sorted out and hopefully with my articles flowing can get some business rolling in.

Hi Kerry, I feel for you. Timotheus has a good point. To check out the new offering, why are they offering you this proposition?
When you have made your decision and making way, it is disconcerting to be offered an option to stay where you are.
Lots of checking out. Myself, I would go with my decision to relocate.

Wow..this really is a sticky situation. I'd be just as confused. Pretty good curve ball, though, And you're right..a beach bum can be a beach bum anywhere. I'm sure which ever way you choose to go with be an amazing experience as well as very profitable for you. All the best to you with everything!
Like you said the final decision is yours but I agree with Tim in that I would check into Zanzibar.
After you have all the facts then you will be better able to make this decision. That's just my opinion.

What would I do?
I will do more research on the Zanzibar option. E.g. Find out why they are letting go of the motel? What are the state's plans for the area in the future? Do some recce and observe the business for a week or so, see the traffic day and night. Look at the manpower situation - are they retaining staff? If not, why? Is there a manpower shortage problem? (this is a biggie as it will mean more work for you and your partner). Dig as deep as you can to make sure it is a good option before even considering it.
For the world-wide travel and accommodation website - same as above except this is website. So find out more about the online market potential for now and the future. See online trends. You are in good stead here because this is an online business - your knowledge and experience here at WA will help you make this a success. Plus, you can continue to get ideas and future updated knowledge on marketing strategies and tactics here. But before all else, do find out more about this opportunity - especially why this person is so willing to partner with you? What does this person get in return?
Whichever you choose, if I were you, I will still continue affiliate marketing. This is the long term strategy. The business or businesses we created here will provide long term gains.

On a personal note you will figure this one out, Kerry, and I think the bottom line is what gives you the most freedom with the least amount of work in the long run of it
.I guess it is my age that tells me I am willing to work hard up front to establish a platform that will eventually give me time to enjoy other pursuits. Do I really want to be married to the hours of maintaining a brick and mortar business ...there is a lot of work put in, during season... and complications in all manner of speaking.

No need to close the door on either opportunity yet. You have time and the best thing is to be upfront with yourself and you interested parties. Have a discussion - you never know what may come of it.
