Confidence and Work Ethic

I woke today and asked myself why I have so much confidence in the training courses on Wealthy Affiliate . The main reason for my sense of confidence isn’t the courses themselves, though they have been extremely valuable. Instead it is the community here—a community of people who emphasize the smallest steps and celebrate each one.

Ever since my kids were small (they are grown now), I’ve tried to find ways to add to our income so that I could be a full-time mom and still contribute monetarily. I wrote articles when the boys were sleeping, researched new opportunities while basking in the sun watching them play in the front yard. But I was left with researching so many scams that I gave up even looking anymore. Instead, I became an employee. I loved the jobs I had but then it was time to do something different.

I returned to affiliate marketing. I had researched it somewhat just before I went back to work, which I only did when the kids were old enough to be in school all day. Returning to Wealthy Affiliate (WA) after being away for about 15 years was like a breath of fresh air. It had progressed so far and there was no feel that it was a scam. How and why is it so obviously the real thing? Work ethic.

There is encouragement here without the “get rich quick” feel of other opportunities. Hard work is mentioned over and over again, and at least working hard is something I am familiar with. It helps that I’ve written quite a bit and have at least a little bit of skill in that area. I’ve read hundreds of posts on WA now about making the first $5 or about that first step of getting indexed in Google. Now, during those times when I’m not writing, in the early morning when I’m having trouble sleeping, or in the evenings when I’m winding down, I wander through the posts by people in the WA community. I read about those small victories and I find them the most encouraging. Not because they are so tiny, but because I share them. Learning and completing courses, building my websites, having those sites now indexed in Google. And I realize that I’m lagging behind in adding affiliate links and advertising to my sites, but as I’m planning for which products or companies will be the first links, I’m gaining confidence in the process. And that is rewarding even though I haven’t made my first $5. I now have confidence that if I have to wait a month or two months or more, that it will happen. Because with the purpose of helping others, I know that hard work will be rewarded. And I will relish the tiny victories along the way.
