Getting Social

So I am working my way through the training. If fact, I skipped over some of course 3 on making money to move ahead to social media. I believe I need to get involved in social media to reach more people before I can try to monetize my site. Does that make sense?
However, I am stuck on Pinterest. I have tried for hours over multiple days to get my site confirmed, to no avail. This is very frustrating! I have followed how to do it, I just keep getting a message that they are working on it. Can I move ahead on Pinterest without my site being confirmed? Not sure what to do, argh!
