Affiliate Links

Affiliate links, it's how most of us will be making money with our websites.

Some of us may have a specific product that we're wanting to market. Others may have an information based site and rely on advertising alone.

Myself I'm relying on what the name implies. Wealthy Affiliate.

We know that direct affiliate links with companies (15% to 50%) net us a higher return as opposed to going through Amazon (6% to 8%) or one of the other larger multi-product companies.

Knowing that Google does not like post and pages with affiliate links all over them.

My question then is.

What's the optimum number of products one should promote on his/her website through review posts?

Can you have too many?

Can you have too few?

When I set out on this training I always stuck with Kyle's suggestion no more than three affiliate links per post/page it is not just about selling it is about providing solutions or show your visitor how something is accomplished

Thanks, Katie, but I'm talking about how many products would be too many to promote per website, not per page.

oh ok some people have commercial website and its all about products so they must be ok I do not think google is so trouble by products so long as you have good quality content on there and it does not look spammy

As I'm setting up my affiliate links at the moment these questions offer some food for thought. Very interested to see the comments. Thank you for posting Keith.

Hello, those are great questions and I'm expecting some great answers... but as a matter of fact, I read an article a couple of months ago (I couldn't find it to attach it here) that Google is not against affiliate links... it's against a page full of links but if you provide with good content, a page or post with some links shouldn't be a problem... I have few pages on first page of Google with some affiliate links on them, so in my experience that works pretty well... I also know of some people here at WA with more affiliate link pages than content, making good money and ranking pretty well...

Thanks mvalverdec, my question was geared more toward how many affiliate pages or products would be too many per website.
