Just a short post on a tool that I use for organizing my thoughts in blogs and other writing called mind mapping/concept mapping.
What is a Concept Map and/or Mind Map?
A concept map or mind map is a diagram that represents words, ideas, or tasks in a hierarchical fashion. Concept maps are often used to explore complex topics and generate new ideas. It can be used by yourself or in brainstorming situations in teams.
They are typically created using an interactive whiteboard or computer software such as my favorite tool called CMAP. Click here to see for yourself. It is a free tool and can be used online, on a PC, and on a Mac. If you like it, you can donate to the project.
The product is created by Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) which is a non-profit research institute in the Florida University System.
Here is an example of a concept map in CMAP. You can export these maps into a format you like and include them in your blog posts.

The Benefits of Mind Mapping / Concept Mapping
Mind mapping/concept mapping is a cognitive tool that helps individuals to think better, be more creative, and solve problems.
Mind mapping / Concept mapping has been around for a long time. It was first used in the 1970s by Tony Buzan as an educational technique for teaching kids how to study. The technique was so effective that it became a popular teaching tool in schools around the world.
In recent years, mind mapping/concept mapping has been used by people of all ages and professions - from students to business executives. It is now one of the most popular tools for brainstorming and problem-solving.
I like to use concept maps to organize my thoughts around my blogs and my other writings. It is a great way to organize your thoughts around a topic you want to write about.
Conclusion
Mind mapping / Concept Mapping is a visual representation of information, thoughts, and ideas in a nonlinear format. It also has many benefits for creative people because it allows them to organize their thoughts in a logical way.
Mind maps/concept maps are used by creatives to brainstorm ideas, plan projects, and generate content. They can also help with writer's block and generate new content that is more creative.
My tool of choice for concept mapping is CMAP. I highly recommend you try it out.
