I picked a niche..went into keywords tool and then went to Jaaxy. First I entered "quiliting" That keyword didn't look good (red) went down the list and picked some out. Found what I think looks good??? "how to make quilt" (i guess proper English isn't an issue) It gave me the following.

traffic 771

I then went to google and typed in "how to make quilt and affiliates 6,590,000 was the approx result.
Please advise me if I am on the right track, my mind is a bit confused right now!
