The Struggle of Choosing a Niche

INTRO

I am a few days new to Wealthy Affiliate at this point and so far, I absolutely love it! Prior to joining, I read many great reviews. One of the things that I noticed were mentioned quite frequently was the great community support. From what I gathered so far, I think the comments I read were understatements. The community so far has been AMAZING!

As for a niche, my boyfriend and I jotted down quite a few ideas on our white board. The ideas we wrote down ranged from puppy training/puppy tips and supplied, home decor, weight loss supplements and work out gear, holiday decorations, etc. i narrowed my two niches down to either focusing on puppies or fitness and weight loss.

WHY WEIGHT LOSS AND FITNESS?

A brief background, I'm a health and science major at Portland State University. Within my degree requirements I've taken many classes around nutrition, public health, anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, and blah blah. I find the human body to be quite fascinating, especially getting down to the nitty gritty on how everything works as a whole system. Since I was in middle school I've always been super active. I played volleyball year round in both school and for outside leagues. During my first year of college, well... let's just say I gained my "Freshman 15" x2. Being that I'm from Hawai'i, cold and rainy weather was not something I was used to. I knew what I was getting myself into when I did some research prior to moving to Oregon but MAN did I underestimate the adjustment. I just couldn't be outdoors! I stayed inside as much as possible my first year, wasn't as active, ate crappie cafeteria and microwavable food. I also got really sick for a while since my body wasn't used to being without so much sunlight. When I flew back to Hawai'i for Christmas break, everyone noticed how different I looked and the weight I had gained. I was embarrassed! When I went back to school I worked my butt off- hit the weights, tons of cardio, changed my diet, and started using different supplements to assist. Eventually, I was in better shape then I previously had been in. Of course, it took some time but eventually it happened.

WHY PUPPY STUFF?

My boyfriend and I now have a five month old chihuahua/mini-pinscher mix and she is the cutest ever. Prior to having our puppy (her name is Pua), I never really had a dog of my own. I knew having a pet was a huge responsibility but I underestimated how much time, effort, and stress it would be at times. However, the love and joy she brings us definitely outweighs all of that, no doubt! I turned to Google for just about everything. What are the best brands to feed your puppy, tips on teaching your puppy tricks, what treats are good, how to potty train, etc. I took a lot of what I learned from different sources and combined them with my own findings on what worked best for me. Between my boyfriend's school/work schedule and my own, we were able to find what worked best for all three of us.

ALL IN ALL

Both topics are two that mean a lot to me. I think with a bit further looking into in addition to my current knowledge and personal experience, i have a good start on my niches.

Thank you :) Have a great week!

It sounds like you are on the right track in selecting your niche - both health/fitness and puppy training are popular.
