Increase and Expansion

How do you increase your income and expand your business? Many books have been written on this subject, but there are core principles that if understood properly will insure sustained growth. If these core principles are not embraced, you are in for quite a struggle. To find these core principals, let's explore the reason you have the desire to increase and expand in the first place. What is the real reason you want growth, not only in your secular life, but in every area of your life? (Perhaps with the exception of you waistline). Here is the answer: It is natural to desire increase and expansion. Life on earth is continuously evolving, changing and increasing. According to scientists the Universe is ever expanding. Since you are part of this Universe and connected to Life, you desire to expand your horizons. At your core, deep inside, you have always wanted to have more, do more and be more. You want more money, more things, more knowledge, more health, love and happiness. This is natural and brings us to our first core principal.

Core Principal One--Increase and Expansion are natural functions of Life and the Universe. Your Life Energy desires to expand and compels you to do so.

When you learn something new and interesting, how do you feel? You feel excited and hungry for more. When do you want to stop learning? Have you ever seen an animal that is happy when it is locked up? No. They want to be free to explore, learn and experience their own adventures. What are children doing constantly? They are always asking questions and exploring. They are hungry to learn and experience new things. They have big dreams. Do they ever stop? The desire never stops. Unfortunately, many times there are people who teach them that they have limitations, that it is silly to dream, that they have to be "realistic", to be careful, don't take unnecessary risks, it is very difficult to be rich and that they should settle for a real job that is stable and be happy with that. This is exactly the opposite of what they feel inside and if they "learn" these things, they learn to shut down their natural desire. This brings us to our next core principal.

Core Principal Two--Personally embrace the natural desire to increase. Look for every opportunity to expand. When an opportunity excites you, run with it.

Personally embracing the desire for more means loving your own desire to expand. Listen to your heart and open your mind to all opportunities that may be calling you. Embracing the idea of increase is necessary for you to remain in the flow and live a life that is interesting and joyful. When you find an idea that compels you, jump right in and go for it.

Embracing increase is not the easiest thing to do for many people since they are taught in one way or another that they are better off to be satisfied with what they have. Being satisfied means you desire nothing more. Isn't this a good thing? After all, In the 23rd Psalm it says, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." Isn't this telling us to quell our desires and be satisfied? Absolutely not. I do not consider 'want' and 'desire' to be the same thing. 'Want' implies that you feel lack and limitation, that you need something but are having difficulty getting it. Thus, 'wanting' creates more of what you are feeling, lack and limitation. Thus the advice, 'I shall not want' is good advice. In other words, I shall not feel lack and limitation. Desire, on the other hand, is a drive to live life to the fullest. Following your heart's desire is not wanting. You can be happy and grateful right where you are now and still desire more. As opposed to feeling needy, you are confident in your ability to create more and know you will enjoy the process because it is a natural function of life. Never let anything shut down this natural desire.

Core Principal Three--Stop listening to advice contrary to core principal one and two.

Bogus advice from well meaning friends or family--Desiring more is selfish, rich people are greedy, money is the root of all evil, and poor people are happier than rich people. . . Pure baloney!
Advice from popular business venues-Starting a business requires sacrifice, be prepared for the worst, and the bigger the success the bigger the sacrifice. . . Completely counterproductive! Stop listening to this kind of advice and listen to your heart. You can be committed to increase your business, your happiness and expanding your relationships. Balance will be achieved when you follow your inner guide.Your natural desire to grow does not to require you to sacrifice your family or other important connections in order to gain success. It leads you to grow in life and happiness and that includes growing your income.

One more very popular idea is that you must have good 'risk management'. . . There is no such thing. If you are driven from the inside toward a vision or goal, go full bore. Pursue it at 100%. Don't weight the risk against the rewards, don't analyze before you decide, don't look before you leap. Trust your compelling desire. Trust your heart, because you know it is the right thing and that you must do it. The learning and analyzing can take place during the journey. So begin, adjust as you go, and enjoy!
