Mindset: Identifying The Conflict That Is Holding You Back

As some of you know if you read my most recent blogs... I have been on a real journey of self-discovery these past few months.

Trying to figure out what do I want. Not talking about money or things. I am talking about what is my purpose in this life. What brings meaning to me. What is my ideal lifestyle.

I've worked through this for a while. Focused back on my mindset again and made some great progress.

But there was always something I can feel that is "not right".

Some kind of internal struggle. A conflict. I finally dug down enough to reach it.

Do You Have A Conflict That Is Sabotaging You?

For me... I was making a post on my blog and while writing I revealed it. The root problem. An internal struggle I have. A conflict in my belief system, values and goals.

It is as follows...

My Goals / Purpose:

Being the best partner I can be for my fiancee, being kind & truly helping others to improve their lives, having location and time freedom (and all of the other freedoms) that just aren’t possible when working at a job. Basically being free and having a life filled with meaning & purpose. Making a difference. This is my ideal lifestyle.

Living simply. Being content with less. Not having a huge amount of money. Not making a huge monthly income. I want a good, simple lifestyle with focus on experiences, meaning & purpose… not on money & fancy “things”. This is my ideal lifestyle.

Clarifying this further:

I want to build an online income based on providing real value to other human beings while taking a minimal amount of my time to operate. A meaningful Laptop Lifestyle.

However, I don’t want the income to be a large amount of money because I have no desire to create a large income and I do not want to have a lot of money.

Here Is The Conflict:

I want to build a successful online business, providing awesome value to other people, but I do not want this business to be very successful financially.

And I must say when I realized this it was quite a huge breakthrough. A real aha! moment.

So, I need to resolve this before moving forward. And now that I am fully aware I am sure I can do that.

How About You?

Are there things you know you should do and can do... and you don't even know why you don't do those things?

Are there things that make no sense for you to do and you don't even know why you do them?

Do you feel something "off" about your current direction?

Do you have some kind of feeling of not being true to yourself?

If you answered yes to any of those questions I think it is very possible you have an internal struggle... a conflict... between your goals, your values and / or your purpose.

And, if that is true, I think identifying that conflict... figure out what it is... and then resolving it (which will likely require making a shift in your mindset) will likely be a huge event that takes you to a whole new level in your life.

I hear you...one thing I've learned is that when we finally realize what it is that we wanted, we had it all along...

I've learned about how to deal with the conflicts you mentioned here, and one thing that has always worked for me is to never limit what I want...I can be comfortable with tons of money, the problem is that when we get a cash windfall, most of us spend like crazy because we think we're supposed to...Of course, we try to think logically by paying our bills, credit cards, car loans, even a chunk on our mortgages.

However, if we ask the universe for what we want, yet set limits, the universe will either give, or not give. All or nothing, there is no half-way...(from what I studied and learned).

The conflict that hinders me is two fold; I'm a perfectionist, and fearful of success. I have so many tools to help me, I don't know what to do with them all as its overwhelmingly simple, yet I am ... Rudy

What do you mean by "and fearful of success"?

You do not want to make "too much" money? Or do you mean something else like you don't want to be thrown into the limelight of huge popularity? Or something else?

All of us have established paradigms. These are so ingrained in us that it is part of our subconscious.

When we want to do something else and set goals that are not part of that paradigm, a conflict arises. This is a real structure between what we are and what we want to be.

Therefore, a paradigm shift needs to take place before we can be successful.

I believe my inner conflict is belief in myself to be able to accomplish what I have set out to do. That is my main problem. I need to get rid of my "may I can" attitude to a "I know I will" attitude.

Take care
Charlotte

Thanks for such great post.I have problems with my goals. So i need to set more reachable goals. Break them up in to 3 part's. In stead of long and short term goal. All the best on your 2020 journey. Fitzgerald
