Live Traffic Feed - A Source of Inspiration
I introduced a while back an interesting tool in my astrological site that doesn't even seem to increase the page upload time that much. Live Traffic Feed! We've all seen something like that (see the image below) in webpages, haven't we? I personally don't think it's a very interesting thing for the reader. But it might be for the writer! At least that is my experience!
Sure we can see the traffic in Google Analytics, but having the LTF on my page I get an immediate view of where in the world my site is being seen - even if it is just a brief visit. It gives me an emotional boost, and it is such a fun thing to have there! Being a travel-minded person I even go and google about the cities and places if I don't recognize them. Having the LTF feature makes me feel more connected to the whole world, and it reinforces my motivation to keep up contributing. Naturally I would like some of the those viewers/readers to purchase something through the ads on the site, but just seeing the constantly changing feed inspires me to get even better and more productive!
So this works fine for me! Would it for you? Try it if it suits your niche/page - you can always take it away. There are several options, and once you find the one that suits you, add a Text feature in the sidebar, and add the Feed link there. Hope this works for some of you!
PS. I don't know yet how to remove my own presence in the feed, so I changed my IP-address in the laptop to show me somewhere else - just for the Live Traffic Feed. No need for the reader to see the same flag over and over - you as the page creator want to see there flags from all over the globe!
