Fried Green Beans

Hello everyone,

Today, was my adult daughter’s birthday, so I took her and her family to PF Chang’s for a late lunch/early dinner! Their menu had fried green beans as an appetizer. No one at the table had ever tried them except me, so I placed an order, enough that everyone could sample them! They were a big hit, everyone, young and older, loved them! So I thought I would do some research and share with you also! My favorite!

Deep-fried green beans are a delicious and popular snack or side dish made by coating fresh green beans with batter and then deep-frying them until they turn golden brown and crispy. They offer a crunchy texture and a flavorful taste, making them a favorite among those who enjoy fried foods.

The process of making deep-fried green beans typically involves the following steps:

  • Fresh green beans are washed, trimmed, and patted dry to remove excess moisture. The ends of the beans are usually cut off to ensure even cooking.
  • The green beans are coated in a batter made from a mixture of flour, cornstarch or rice flour, and seasonings such as salt, pepper, and garlic powder. The batter helps the green beans achieve a crispy texture when fried.
  • The green beans are carefully dropped into hot oil and fried until they become crispy and golden brown. They are often fried in small batches to ensure they cook evenly.
  • Once fried, the green beans are removed from the oil and placed on paper towels or a wire rack to drain any excess oil.
  • Fried green beans are typically served hot and can be accompanied by various dipping sauces, such as ranch dressing, aioli, or sweet chili sauce, to enhance their flavor.

Deep fried green beans are a popular appetizer at restaurants and are also enjoyed at home during gatherings and parties.

While they are undeniably tasty, it's essential to consume them in moderation due to the high fat and calorie content associated with deep-frying. As with any fried food, it's best to enjoy them as an occasional treat rather than a regular part of the diet.
