I followed these instructions and got an error msg saying I maximum amount of attempts-something like that
anyway any idea of how to accomplish this?
fantastic instructions - very much appreciated. Followed to the letter - but alas Pinterest keeps saying "couldn't find meta tag". Not sure what else to try. Thanks for you help anyway
Well, Jay, I'm scratching my head over this now... was your meta tag configured like this:
<meta name="p:domain_verify" content="1f5754c01a307af7e745bd676d6050c0"/>
That is the meta tag for mine (all on one line, by the way). Just curious....
Also, if you DO have the meta tag on your blog (which I believe you do), and if Pinterest operates like GWTs (Google Webmaster Tools), then they may have cached your site without the meta tag and are retrieving the cached version. If that's the case, then you might want to give it another try in a few hours.
thanks for the comment. I am a newbie and I'm not sure how to get to the <header> secton of my index.html file on my website. Any pointers? Any help greatly appreciated.
No problem. Hopefully, I can make the steps very clear for you...
(1) Log in to the Admin area of your WP website.
(2) From the sidebar menu on your Dashboard, click on Appearance, then select Editor from the drop-down menu. TEMPLATES will come up on the right-side of your screen.
(3) Look down the templates for "header.php" and click on it. Your editor will open the html coding page for your theme.
(4) Find <head>. Copy and paste your Pinterest meta tag right under that <head> line.
(5) Click the "Update File" button under the editor screen.
(6) Finally, go back to Pinterest and click on the "Complete Verification" button on your profile page. That should do it!
Hope that helps and please let me know if your are successful, OK?

Hi, Jay! I didn't use Filezilla or anything like that to verify my WP site on Pinterest this time around. I used the "meta tag" method and it was very easy. Once I downloaded and copied the meta tag, I went over to my WP site and inserted the meta tag into the <header> section of my index.html file. Then I went back to my Profile page on Pinterest and completed the verification. It worked like a charm.
I'm clearly not an expert, but, some time ago I tried the Upload method with Google verification and found out that somehow the source code on my verfication file had been corrupted. Maybe that's part of your problem in this case. Just a thought...
