I am still here

Some of you know me some are like me and just focus on my own thing over here in my own corner. If I see where I can help and if it is something that I know that I know then I share. Other than that I kinda stay to myself.

I have now been here almost 2 full months. I wish I had a wonderful story to tell about hundreds of people flocking to my web site and everybody ordering but that is just not the case. I have had a very small amount of traffic. Most because of word of mouth. But that is okay. Because as of 3 months ago all my google account was for was my phone to store info in case I lost or broke it and needed a new one. Facebook well I thought that was a look you had once someone hit you with one. Okay I knew what it was.

What I am trying to say is that I am Thankful to be in a room full of people like you. We all have the same basic focus. We all know that the first web site will not be our pot of gold at the end of the rainbow or our winning lottery ticket.

We know that this will work as long as we work hard and duplicate our work and bring up a few web sites. There is nothing wrong with this. I was warned from a very young age to not put all my irons in the same fire. Why you may ask? Really simple math. If the first fire runs out of wood you have other fires to keep the Iron warm in. Old cattle ranch thing. The iron referred to is a branding iron.

Today this or that is important. I remember when if you had an atari system you where the in guy. For those that don't know what that is you need to say thanks to atari because of them you have XBox.

So my update for today was as I was logging into my first site I realized that it was way down at the bottom of my screen and that I had as Kyle says a lot of internet property ahead of it.

That made me think about how far I have come in just the last 60 days. I have built a site that more people have looked at than the one I have had for past 3 years. To answer your question yes one of the sites that I had to get past is a new site for my pen and scroll work.

So Thank you WA for the support and encouragement and to know that I am not here by myself.

Thank You

Jim

Your website is wonderful, Jim :)
Getting noticed online can be a pain stain-kingly long journey. Especially when you are building everything from scratch. The internet is gigantic and putting all your time and energy into getting your website noticed just by a handful of people can be a lot of pressure. I know it is for me!

With my business I have decided to take the Third Party approach. I will have my website available for the world to see, however the items I have for sale will be available for purchase on a different website that already gets a lot of traffic. My business website is linked with this Third Party site, so even if customers do not see my business site right away they will still know that I am out there, and I will not be depending SOLELY on the one website to make a living. I will have a little help. If I have any success at all with my current business, hopefully I will have made enough connections to give a second niche website a running start at getting noticed on the web by itself without being connected with any other sites.

I personally think you are doing great! And the bigger your connections get here on WA the more opportunities you will have for potential customers :) Their are TONS of people here with all kinds of different interests. And in time the word about your wonderful business will spread and all your hard work will have paid off. I know this is a lot easier to say then to do, believe me. I make next to nothing right now and have joined WA in the hopes of improving my fortunes. Both financially and socially.

I guess what I am trying to say is... I'm here, Jim. I'm always here. Please do not hesitate to send me a message at any time. I am thrilled to have met you and to have read your story. Your hard work will not go unnoticed. Especially by me!

I wish you all the luck in the world.
Cheers,
Darcy

Thank you. I am at a loss for words. but thank you for you comment.
It has been a very trying week for me and you.... Thank you

Jim

My pleasure :)
It sounds like we both need a break to do something fun. Read a book, watch a good movie, go out for dinner... not that I have the money to go anywhere fancy, but maybe at least to Dairy Queen! ;)

I hope you have a restful day.
Cheers!

Keep at it! It can and will work ;-)

Very good perspective. I appreciate your post.

I've only been here 1 month, but I am in the same boat.

Yes, I have a site. Yes, I'm ranked on Google. Yes, I have a little traffic, but almost entirely from WA...

BUT, it's WAY more online presence than I had 3 years ago...

So, thanks for the great perspective and reminder that this is a marathon, not a sprint...

Oh, and BTW, I do remember having an Atari, and LOVED Pac-Man and River Raid :-).

Great to hear about your progress Jim, keep it going. All the best for the future :)

That's a very good perspective Jim.
