Slay the Dragons that hold you back
I was listening to an amazing podcast by one of my favorite modern psychologist, Dr. Peterson, and he was talking about dragons in stories that we tell and watch, and brought up something that I never thought about.
In the movie Sleeping Beauty, everyone finds it normal that the witch (pardon my spelling here) Malifiscent becomes a dragon at the end of the movie. He said that this has some archetypal value to it and should get us thinking on why it is so normal to just accept that she can do this.
It's because we are meant to slay the dragons in our life. Prince Charming comes to fight the Evil Mother, the corrupt Mother of lies and deceit with the sword of truth and the shield of virtue. He overcomes the dragon to bring back the woman he loves and wants to be with, giving her True Love's first kiss.
It is a story that we should listen to. We all have dragons that we must slay in order to acheive some goal. Maybe your sword isn't truth. Maybe it's hard work. Maybe perservence. Maybe the shield is Truth. I don't know. I don't know your own personal situation, but you do.
And it's time to stand up to those dragons. You can never progress if you allow them to scare you or control you. You can never become more virtuous if you don't overcome those dragons. Maybe you need to exercise more. Start today. Go small. Make little progress at a time. The point is to be better tomorrow at something, anything, than you was yesterday.
I'm not sure what demons and dragons you must face, but face them, overcome them, and be the person you was meant to be.
Remember, you are valuable and you matter everyone. Stay awesome out there!

Well said Jessie! We all have dragons that obstruct us on our paths to success...
I always have my trusty lightsabre by my side just in case I run into any!
Slaying dragons one by one as they cross our paths is a good thing, indeed, Jessie!
Well said!
Jeff

I'm a big fan of Disney's "Sleeping Beauty". It's a real favorite of mine.
I've had to "fight a lot of dragons" of fear, and I'm still fighting them, but "it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog", as it were. I'm not giving up now, not when I'm so close.
One of the things that has resulted in "fighting dragons" is that it means so much more to me than it would if it came easy. I think that the valuable lessons, successes and victory in general, aren't supposed to come easy. They don't have to be as hard as they are sometimes, but we win the battles that are hard-fought, not ones that are easily won. That's the greatest benefit of Internet Marketing that I've found so far.
Yes yes we do. We should always grow and learn from those battles. The battle, the journey, defines who we are and we define the destination of the journey, the end of that battle.
That's true. How we start out doesn't have to determine how we end up. Each one of us does that. Have a great night, Levi!
