Return To Basics

A little over a month ago, my mother-in-law died. I was unaware of how that would affect me since she and I were not close. Her children asked me to write something to memorialize her with. I took up the task with some reservations since we weren't close. I wrote from the heart for her children.

Her parish priest asked me for a copy of what I had written. I was to learn later that he would take copies of eulogies and preserve for later use. He told me of this practice and asked my permission. Of course, I gave him the permission he requested. There have been times they have been published for someone's funeral.

I was in a good place publishing and doing keyword research for my website. After her funeral, I stopped working on my website and was sure my rankings would fall. I could not have been more surprised to find the opposite was true.

We each look for ways to improve our writing abilities and ranking in the search engines. I checked Google Search Console this morning and found to my surprise that my site rank had moved from 68 to 32 in just 5 weeks. I looked at my insights and found that I had 2 orphaned posts but I know how to correct them. By correcting them this should help my ranking in search engines as well.

I was beginning to get discouraged about my niche and my abilities. I just sat and thought about what I have done for the last 5 years. Did I want to let all of my knowledge become a waste? The answer was a resounding NO!!!!!! I came here to learn and to build my future. Now is not the time to stop, for I feel deep within that my success is just beginning.

The number of clicks has gone from about 10 per week to 85 per day, this is great news. My impressions at the first part of December was around 4500 and now have exceeded 8000, again great news.

My email list was getting 1 or 2 per week and is now getting about 3 per day. I feel this means more people are viewing my site and possibly sharing it with family and friends. This too is great news.

I feel honored to find this morning that I have 5000 followers at Wealthy Affiliate. This has happened over a 5 year time-span. To all of you who follow me, THANK YOU! I am truly honored to have you in my network.
