Something Strange Going On!
Has this happened to you? This morning I was checking out Google Analytics, real time overview, and suddenly there were 34 visitors to my site, from all over the world. The strange thing is there was only 1 traffic source. Then, just as suddenly, they were all gone.
I'm concerned. Should I be?
Hoping for some feedback.

could be spamming. Try this
on the left bar
Acquisition -> All Trafic -> Channels
then
in the display (table) you will see the source. If you had a name "semalt" in it, you are being spammed. Check it out
If yes, there is a way to clean up the mess
Hope it helps
Cheers

Thank you.I did not see semail but I did see quite a few "simple share button" entries. Can any of this be harmful? Thanks again.Jeff
That IS spam. Not harmful in that way, but it will ruin your metrics.
I shall post here what you need to do
Please do. I believe simple share button was the traffic source I saw this morning. I really want true metrics. That's why I filtered out my IPS.
Thanks. I'm sure others would also find it helpful. Jeff
Yes, please do. I want true metrics which is why I filtered my IP. It may also help others. Thanks again. Jeff
Here is the link that I followed and it worked for me.

(although my metrics are all ruined. I need to find out why. However, I got the spam out. You need to block the spam referrals by editing your .htaccess file (assuming you are using wordpress and using SEO by Yoast
I think the resource Surenpilai is taking about is this one How to block Referral Spam and Countries within Google Analytics. If you prefer video, I created a video covering this https://youtu.be/P_7mRdEvOKE
Many thanks. I'll check it out.
Thank you Welshy. Nice to have my friends at WA come to the rescue.
