Another Update On Mom
Hi, Everyone.
Just to let you know, Mom is not getting better. The doctor recommended Hospice Care today, saying he didn't see her recovering.
Her respiration could be good, in the 90s, which is good. But then if they try to sit her up, it plummets to the 50s.
Her breathing has gotten shallower since she has been in the hospital. She is on forced oxygen with a liquid/humidifier(?) part to it.
We did put her on Hospice, and they are going to wean her off of something, and make her as comfortable as possible. So, maybe she will pass in her sleep.
This would be best.
Thanks for all of your prayers, well wishes, and Good Energy.

Love and prayers to you and your family, I remember how hard it was when my dad went into Hospice and I took over caring for him through the last 2 months of his life. So many tough memories but also good times here and there. I thank the lord my dad developed dementia for the final time on earth because his body did so much suffering.
If you can get her out of Hospice, do so and get her to another hospital and new doctors.
This hits a very raw nerve for me and I'm sorry if I come across wrong.
Just 3 days ago, you reported they were going to give antibiotics for 14 days. Obviously they have or will stop that now that you all have decided to just let her die.
They wanted to do that with my mother in 1996 while she was in a coma. I said HELL NO and I demanded they do more including getting new doctors working with her and eventually I fired the Primary doctor.
Mom never would have come out of the Coma if we just gave up and listened to the doctors.
She not only came out of the coma but made a FULL recovery and lived independently for another 18 years!
I'm sorry you have to go through this. Someone needs to stand up for your mother.
Mel
Thanks, Mel.
But between her dementia and the possibility of further brain damage due to lack of oxygen caused by her failing respiration. This is the best. She would never have recovered fully, and it would have been dragged out longer, costing money we could pay, but could hurt us in the long run.
I am sorry if I sound cold and callous.

JD,
I agree that you have done the best you can for your Mom. Her life quality will not improve, even if she did get physically well. Putting her through a ridged 14 day antibotic treatment seems uncalled for. She has lived a long life, and you have been blessed to have had so much time with her.
Taking care of her as she lost her ability to live independentenly gives you an inside track to her feelings on what she is going through now.
Prayers coming your way,
Sami
Thank you, Shelly.
