Outdoor playground equipment is one of the many options you can explore this summer. The thrill children get on play-spaces is pure and unmatched with, perhaps, any other form of play. But if that is a bit over your budget or just isn’t on the cards, you can always try other activities to help your kids fight boredom. Some of them are as mentioned:
· Go to the beach
It’s hot and humid and children need a place to cool off and the beach has been the perfect summer retreat for years. If you live close to one, a short drive on the weekends should be enough to have your children engrossed in play all day long.
· Amusement parks
But what if you live somewhere landlocked and the closest beach is at least a 7-hour drive from your house? Well, don’t fret – like we mentioned before, it’s summertime, so you can expect a lot of carnivals and theme parks randomly popping up (if they aren’t already there). Amusement parks should fill in for whatever kids miss at the beach and they guarantee a great time too.
· Impromptu play
We know how much children love to be around playgrounds and playground equipment, but if isn’t available, you can always turn to impromptu (or pop-up) play. This type of play can make use of anything from cardboard boxes to basic scrap. Kids love to be improvisational when it comes to playing times, so give them exactly that.
· Plan a short educational trip
Nothing beats the sheer bewilderment on a child’s face when they see their first dinosaur skeleton at a museum or dummies made to look like the Vikings and the Mongols. Children have an amazing ability to learn which slowly dissipates as they grow up. Utilize their ability with some great history lessons. Even better, take them out on an archaeological dig if you can.
We’ve mentioned quite a lot of substitutes if you’re unable to find a park or playground worth taking your kids to, so which one are you going to opt for?
