So how do my cats make money for me? Well, it's not cat modeling, although they would make great models :) So let me begin!
You may have seen one of my many comments about how much I love Instagram, and how well it is working for me, or you may have even read my post where I profess my love for Instagram. You can read it here if you haven't read it already.

Instagram is the key to it all. When I first got on Instagram, I wasn't too thrilled. I hate social media and I don't want to be one of those people with their nose in their phone all the time, and I honestly didn't think Instagram would work for me at all. But I was wrong. It did work, and I don't even have to do much work (no nose in the phone for me)! I started off by posting a few images from my site of products I am selling, just to get the ball rolling. They got some likes and I gained some followers, but after that there was little activity. So I thought to myself, how do I engage people on social media? And that's when I had my breakthrough.
To engage people, you have to post a picture that people will like, want to look at, want to see more of, and will eventually click on your profile link to find out what you're all about! From there, you want them to follow you, and my biggest goal is to get them to be so interested that they click on my website. This is where my cats come in.
Everyone (mostly) loves a cute cat photo. They are insanely popular on Instagram, and the number of #ilovecats or #catsareawesome or anything cat related is very high. So I decided if I wanted more profile views and site visitors, I would have to be engaging in a different way. Even though I am not targeting people in my niche, I am still getting traffic, and who knows? Maybe that cat lover will click on my site and find it interesting and tell someone else about, or someone they know can benefit from it so they spread the word, or maybe they themselves find the information useful, click on a link and buy something. So by targeting people outside of my niche, I can still be successful on social media.
After my breakthrough, I posted a cute picture of my cats... PEOPLE LOVED IT! I had so many more profile views, I was getting website clicks, all because of my cute little kitties :) Since then, I have been able to maintain a solid group of followers (niche and non niche audience) by posting twice a day, and posting images related to my niche from my site, interesting quotes, and every 5th or 6th picture is of my cats :) That is how my cats make money for me!
