Importance of Sitemap and Index

I started my website over a month ago and have accumulated over 20 posts so far.
All throughout this time, Google had indexed around 6 to 8 articles. I have been constantly monitoring hoping Google would come back to my site and index more posts.
All happened so slowly...

Yesterday, 20 Aug 2018, I had some spare time and decided to try submitting my Sitemap. I regret not having done that earlier!
Within 2 days, almost all of my articles were indexed! Indexed = Searchable in GOogle = Potentially more traffic!
Remember to submit your sitemap soonest.
